This is not contradictory to what has been posted, but I thought I would add a basic diagram because the 180-degree rule can be confusing at first and the more references the better. As it relates to film, especially working with multiple cameras and camera angles the idea is not to cross an imaginary...

Okay, hopefully, this will assist Nanashi. Kevin Nowlan, Cory Walker, and Mike Mignola (with the Hellboy drawing) understanding form and anatomy quite well. These artists hint at anatomy without drawing every detail. In the case of the Hellboy one, I notice that Mignola is drawing less and less in the...

Good question about Constructive Anatomy. It is worthwhile because it combines form and structure with gestures. It seems that many books push either to 1 of 2 extremes. Either a book teaches concepts in a bit of a stiff manner with structure and proportion leaving figures a bit rigid or, on the other...

Yeah, I am pretty vague at times. I tried not to sound like a "know-it-all" and name drop when I wrote this, but this advice comes from experience with artists and art directors I know in the comic book and animation industry. It was all sound andvice and all of them are much better than me....

I noticed you have mentioned Cory Walker a few times and my general observation from watching him draw and his feedback in the past is that he is very good at breaking down the body into simple forms/shapes and rotating them in space. For instance,...

Thanks for the kind words. I don't draw nearly as much as I used to. I have to get back into drawing cities. My last book took place almost entirely in the woods.

I have done some film work mostly for marketing. I recently finished a graphic novel I am shopping around. I am trying to find some way to enter into the book market since the content is kind of young adult fiction type stuff. I was surprised to see this thread again.

Here are a couple of older images as I get back into drawing. The first one is an old one that I never posted. It's a silly homage to giant size x-men and the other is a goofy spaghetti thing. I have to get back into drawing backgrounds more. I have been drawing trees and nature scenes for a graphic...

I stopped posting a long time ago and I decided to start putting up art. I like the nature of a sketchbook thread. Hopefully, I can keep a good pace with some sketches as I go.
