  • How to Post Artwork here at Penciljack.com

The answer to this question can be found in any number of threads here in the Info forum, and can be found in the FAQ at the top of this page, but I thought I'd take the time to write up yet another thread about it.

The first thing you must understand is that except in very limited, very special cases, members are not able to attach images directly to Penciljack.com. Therefore, unless you are a moderator or an administrator, you must host your artwork on another Web server.

Once you have your image uploaded to a Web site, you will be able to link to it here at PJ. Create a new Topic, title the Topic descriptively and include a brief explanation of the image. Then, paste the URL (i.e. the Web address) of the image between an opening and closing [IMG] tag, as follows:

    Alternate method

Alternatively, you may use special vB code buttons to include your image. Click the "IMG" button, paste the URL of the image in the text box and click "okay" and the Forum software will automatically format your image for you. You can find this button (as well as other buttons useful for formatting your posts) on all New Topic and Reply pages. The Help and the IMG buttons are highlighted in the following partial screenshot:

      "Do"s and "Don't"s

When posting artwork here at Penciljack.com, please keep the following in mind:

      DOs ...
      • DO include the full url of the image you want to display
      • DO post only your own artwork
      • DO size the image appropriately - posting extremely large images will make it more difficult for some members to see (and thus, comment upon) your artwork
      • DO check with your image/web hosting provider to ensure they allow remote linking to other sites
      • DO post your artwork in the correct forum (check the forum description and/or contact a moderator if you have questions)
      • DO adhere to the rules and guidelines set forth in the Guidelines and Etiquette and in the Forum-specific guidelines posted at the top of the Studio forums

      DON'Ts ...
      • DON'T try to link to an image that resides on your computer's hard drive. The image will not display
      • DON'T e-mail your image files to moderators or administrators here at PJ. Though we are more than happy to help you learn how to post your own images, we unfortunately do not have time to post them for you.
      • DON'T post a new topic just because you might have failed to get an image to display in the first topic. This only clutters the forum.
      • DON'T use or advocate methods to thwart remote linking on sites that expressly prohibit remote linking. This amounts to bandwidth theft and is not a polite practice
