  • Question about morality

Is it morally wrong to write stories that sexually turn us on? I write stories about giant women and men getting shrunk around beautiful normal sized women, and it’s a turn on for me. Would most people in the creative community agree that it is wrong to write about subject matter that arouses you, even if there is no sex or nudity involved?

I knew an English teacher when I was 20 who told me it was wrong, but at a giantess forum recently they ripped me apart like a pack of wild hyenas when I asked them about it. According to them, the English teacher was wrong. Asking them is like asking an alcoholic if drinking alcohol is wrong, people caught in the grip of their addiction can’t be relied on for information like this.

What do you people here think about this issue?

I just want to add something, I’ve been interested in shrinking since I was very young. I’ve always liked shows and films with size differences, like 3 worlds of Gulliver, Land of the Giants, and Innerspace. My goal as a creator is to make comic books and graphic novels dealing with size disparity, but done in a way so that people of all ages can partake in it. There would be no adults only content, there is enough of that already in my opinion.

I don't believe there's anything "morally" wrong in writing stories of any subject matter that interests you. Your English teacher was definitely wrong, imo.

Not everyone will share in your interest, and not everyone will enjoy your story, but that's more than ok. No one needs to share in your interests to enjoy your story, though there could be an argument that it's what would draw them to read it in the first place.

At the end of the day, if you can hold your readers interest throughout the entire story, I'd call that a success.

Eroticism is part of human nature. Societies that have strong moral prohibitions against things that arouse people are generally repressive, particularly against women and people with different sexual orientations.

If you get your morals from religion, there may be a strict interpretation of some religious doctrine that specifies this is wrong. If not, ask yourself about the possible consequences that your writing may have. Are your female readers going to start building shrink rays and zapping men to make them tiny? If not, I wouldn't worry about it. Honestly creative people have enough struggle with inner doubts and anxieties to have to deal with other people's bullshit on top of it.

I go by Hank Moody's perspective of writing. Whatever blows your head back. Yes eroticist can be addictive but no more addictive than what is already on the internet. The nice thing about writing is that it can be personal. It is about what you want to express. If you want to adjust the writing for wider consumption then that is up to the writer. I did not like 50 shades of grey but it was good enough that many wanted to read it and have enjoyed it as empowering. What are you writing for? Is this writing intended to create eroticism....Cool. Is the writing intended for a good story of changing sizes with eroticism to help emphasize how things change with size. Then do it if you think you can. Just make sure why you are doing what you do. In your heart you know what your intentions are.
