Coloring over Pencil not inked pictures

I just got my new tablet and I'm doing some more coloring and when reading Conan with Cary Nord and Busiek I love the colors over the pencils but dont know how to set it up. I have no problem when I'm setting up inked pages to color. Just wondering about any hints.

Have you tried adjusting the Hue/Saturation of the pencils?

If you're using photoshop there is a tool that lets you select the line work and then erase all the backgrounds. Here's a tutorial with the basic idea.

you should be able to set it up the same way as when you set it up using inked art. whether you use channels, as shown through tnt's link, or via a new multiplied layer.

the main thing you will want to do, is make sure the lineart has been cleaned up as much as you want it to be.

All i do after i clean up w/ levels i copy the layer , do a quick mask, pasted it back down and undo the mask. It will leave the white selected. Then select the inverse and fill w/ black.

Works well since your colors go under the line art, the lines are black. and there is no white space, I usually do a background of gray. Its easier on the eyes.
