First time wrapping. Tried puppet warp, warp and distort displacement. I guess depending the size and shadows and light one technique is better than the other.

Puppet wrap looks decent enough but i generally dislike manipulating pattern because they rarely look right.

U considered just making the pattern flat regardless of the shape? Like howard chaykin does it for instance?

Personally i would draw the pattern itself manually so it follows the folds.

Im ok though unemployed, drawing and coloring again. Im hoping 2013 I will be a serious artist able to draw when not in the mood and while working at a 9 to 5 new job.

Thanks Loston, the skirt waist contor I should have known and might have avoided in a new drawings of following contour. But the chin comment blew me away I dont think i would spotted that one and continue to not see it.

The pattern isn't the issue since it looks flat either way--the pattern has to follow the form of the cloth.

True. But the comic I'm going to be working on involves lots of plaid and tattoos and embroidery.. So I dont want to get so hung up of drawing to get it perfect the plaids the tattoos or embroidery.

                        A good drawing.

While warping you still have to keep the horizontal lines of the plaid generating from the the waist line.

It could be diagonal, but more likely than not most fashions are not cut that way.

if you want a highly stylize (or flattened) effect, don't worry about warp. The warp is more distracting than just laying some straight plaid over it, and is more in tune with this style you got, imo.
