A smoke in the jungle

This is just a quick sketch I did, The concept is a gorilla / alien mysterious creature smoking a cigarette in the jungle. I am new to pencil jack and wanted to see if i could get some feed back thx.

You should have someone pose with a lighter so you can see how it's held and can draw it correctly.

Use some reference for the trees in the background. for the same reason.

I agree that using a reference will help tons! The way he's holding the lighter now makes his hand look backwards. Either that or like his joints will pop at any moment due to the extreme angle his wrist is bent.
Overall though, it's a neat concept. Should look great with changes to the anatomy and the background!
