    X-Men Rogue

Was sketching this at work today, started to clean up a few lines but still far from finished. I'm not sure about the cliff she's sitting on. Maybe give that a little more attention. Also need to finish the hair and hands. I got the pose from a magazine with a few tweaks.

Didn't know her costume 100% so I need to look at more pics to make it more exact.

Thanks for looking and always open to crits.

Hey Cheshire Cat, these lines are really beautiful. Your shapes are really well-designed and there is a lot here to like. You have nice proportion and good attention to subtle detail

The only thing I'd recommend for you is to do more sketching from life. Regular people sitting in coffee shops, doing stuff like walking, waiting for the bus, etc. The reason I recommend this is because I'm not getting a convincing feeling of weight from this. It's actually kind of an awkward pose. Observing how real people sit and interact with their environment is really great for stuff like that.

LIke I said before, your drawing skills are already very good. I think working some life drawing into your practice is going to send your stuff into the stratosphere. Good luck!

Thanks Vince. I agree, I do need to start sketching people in real life. School starts soon so I am positive I'm just gonna sit in class doodling other students sitting or the professor standing and teaching. I get an awkward feeling staring at people in public trying to draw, so I resort to magazine photos for poses that aren't just standing around. This one in particular probably didn't work as well since I changed the arms and the one leg. I'm not sure what the rules are regarding poses lifted from reference work.

I'm still really far from being a great penciller, and most of my stuff tends to look better once I start to ink it. I think I try too hard for more difficult poses instead of getting regular ones down pat.

Well, I decided to make some changes and get working on the inks at the same time. I changed the pose now to a sorta hovering/flying and got her costume looking more correct.

your poses could be improved to make them look natural, but great linework.

Yeah, definitely. I'm gonna try out some more general poses tomorrow. I'm still having problems with foreshortening too otherwise I'd have done some better things with drawing her hands, but those will have to do for now.
