I like the Phoenix pic, as dirty as it is. The legs work fine, ut the hands on hips are a bit off. Usually, for that pose, the fingers are more visible than the main body of the hand, with less index finger and more pinky showing as they curl around the hip area. I know you didn't use ref, but check out some lingerie/clothing models - they often are in exactly the right poses to learn how that hand position works. i learned it years ago from a pose in Vogue.
Thank for the comments, Alex, I really appreciate it.
As it seems the drawing is even messier than what I thought as the hands were meant to be in front of her torso grabbing and forcing some "energy cloud" (which again is hardly visible) apart. Well, you still hit it as there is no surprise this part being the messiest - hands are one of my biggest nemeses. So as follow up I'm jumping on hand studies this afternoon, which I have been planning for a while now anyway.:-)
Hands targeted, right from the basics. Plus a doodle which came surprisingly easily (even thou I was practising hands, didn't put the proper effort in for the left hand...).
And a sneak peek on last weeks' office work - ballpoint doodles of the type "Windows must restart now"/let's-have-a-meeting-just-for-the-sake-of-it.
draw your hand as you draw that your hand draws....:
Timm, the friendly dinosaur and colleagues (each windows restart a new figure in the pic):-) :
No hands today. There is a photo referenced sketch instead:
And Silvester Stallone as Rambo for WSG #261, hell, it was harder than should have been and still don't like the nose and left chinline. Feel free to give a hint with these, if you like, I would appreciate it.
That Rambo is niiiiiiiice! Hair kind of looks like a crown of thorns, but young Stallone kind of reminds me of El Greco's model for Jesus- the doughboy version, so its all good.
Thanks very much, vrblknch. LoL, that Jesus thing is just the very thing I couldn't get out of my head in the last 3/4 hour of drawing. Well that was when the hair came (which I just messed up being tired of the whole thing and not having proper ref for the top part).
Knackered after Download... So there are a few hands from the Loomis book just for a change. And a photo referenced sketch turning a girl into a male flagellant. As a place holder till I come with a Slash tribute piece just to remember his show on Friday.

I started to shadow the guy, but then ended up with a different sketch and decided to draw my own dragon. So just tried to check how he does things and then applied it to mine. And it seems to work out nicely - I'm quite happy with that dragon kiddo.
So concept was a cartoony dragon kid and I feel I have come quite close to what I had in mind, but it feels a bit soft here and there, I guess I couldn't bring that texture effect, especially on the horns. So maybe because of that one of my mates took it for a seahorse today, and to be honest, I can pretty much see that boy as a seahorse. Well, in the end I might just say it is a seahorse.:-)
A few progress pictures:
Hey Sean, thanks very much. I'm pushing a bit harder these days and it is paying off. Now, I'm jumping on the steam-punk-marine/judge WSG topic. Great topics this week, by the way.:-)
