Thanks very much Juggs, I am slowly getting there...But the main reason for all these pencils is that I am still a bit afraid of colours:-) It's something you are great at.

Thr original skecth I did for the pin-up girl's pose served me well enough as a warm-up today progrressing quite far. So sci-fi "Rocket Ridress":

Plus some silly doodles from last week - headbanging mermaid and supa hero couple:-)
    Cheers,

Two weeks ago I finally got myself to by a mechanical pencil. I meant it for the final sharp and clean lines after cleaning up my messy drawing brought in my usual pencils. But as my last useful normal pencils disappeared during the weekend I just used the mechanical one for everything and found it really appealing for powerful, harsh, "spirited" line work as it run smooth and quick on paper and did not need sharpening.
So here are two doodle pages. The runner guy is referenced, the rest just appeared out of nowhere and I'm still quite happy with them - the second page was really fun to draw. Well, I really have to do a direct practice on the knee joint and lower leg...

I had a 10 minute dead time in my car yesterday, and to kill time I played a bit using laying nails and fingers on my foggy windshield:-)

        First Digital Painting Attempt

And my new endeavour: a daring digital painting attempt. I know that I should have started with something simple, like an apple or a vase, but I hate still lifes :-/ And I really wanted to use my old sketches I drew for Lady Death WSG a month or so back. Well, after one and a half week of struggle, here I am:

Zero reference, so it is surprising how convincing it is here and there. But it is also obvious that I don't understand that leather-whatever thingy to the level I need to paint light effects properly on it. Ideas welcome!:-)
It also resembles old computer game intro graphics somewhere around Street Fighter 2 and Blackthorne, I hope it is just because of the background layers colour (but I fear not:-)
        Cheers,
        Einar

You improving quite a bit man, that Samantha from Bewitched is just like her, practicing figures and gestures are exactly what you need to become a more refined artist and I see the results. Keep at it!

              Hey Guys,

              Thanks for the kind words.

P R Man, that windshield stuff was just something really fun. I am pretty sure your daughter would love if you prepare some foggy windshield drawings for her.

LoL, Morg, I am not sure if you mean to tease me with the Samantha reference:-). That picture is pretty hmmm... weak. But thanks for the motivation, I really appretiate it.

That picture is just what Loston would call caricature:-) Glad you like it.

Last work week for the year has passed! Yess! Although I am struggling with a bloody cold for more than a week now, which gave a savoury taste even to the sweetest summer ale... The lesson learnt is: be careful when you stop every day cycling due to cold and asphalt turning white with frosty dew - you might instantly fall ill:-)
At least I'm in the motherland now.

Daredevil for last week's WSG. Pose could have used a bit more work, and there are other minor issues, but at least it did not see any ref:-) And, as the guys on WSG pointed it out he is bloody "jump roping" - well, I always liked funny twist on characters too gloomy by definition.:-)

A bit of practice using the artsy poses webpage somebody linked somewhere on PJ 2 months or so back - I just cannot find that post again, but fortunately my browser remembered.

Well, these were intended for pose practice, but it was still annoying that I could not get the head right on the first one... Need more practice on that.

A belated Merry Christmas, which should be Happy New Year now:-)

I had better likeness before, but not in this style. I mean Santa of course, not the Krampus who was meant to look like Richie Mccaw.:-)

A bit of referenced practice on positure.

I am getting bold with darker tones and stronger lines as some picture above shows. Originally I meant to use this attempt only in comic style drawings but even my more realistic ones like the "swinger girl" above shows some signs of it. The following two pieces are direct attempts at this stressed line, minimal toning, clean drawing style.

The girl had been an old, really rough, photo referenced practice piece till I came across it in my sketchbook during the holiday and decided to convert according to my new stressed line practice. And I must say I pretty much like the outcome. The tech guy is unreferenced.

Plus the Princess Zelda for the week's WSG.
                        Cheers,

Too much partying in the last two weeks, I hardly had time to draw. And I missed it, however good the parties were. (Plus I play again after half a year off period - Monkey Island rules!!)

Two attempts on Rogue for this week's WSG - she has always been my favourite X-Chick so she didn't worth any less.
First, one maybe a bit overdetailed, here and there overrealised piece, but it still din't used reference.

As I was experimenting with a simpler, clearner look and heavy contours lines, vyper referred Bruce Trimm as example, so Rogue gained a second look:

Last week's Vampire Walt Disney Princess - Cindarella. Just a rough one and I don't like composition either.

During a boring meeting at work I tried to put a better layout together as I really want to bring a nice piece together with that subject.

A mess, which after gave up on the original idea turned into an acceptable doodle/sketch.
                              Cheers,
