Back from holiday. I spent an amazing week walking almost the whole length of the Fogaras ridge in the Carpathians. Large rucksack all the way, plenty of boulders to climb and even more rocks to trip on:-) But would go back right now if I could.
Also spent some time home, again travelling a lot on trains and buses, so produced a few dodgy practice pieces and doodles.
And painted Bettie Page for WSG upon my return. Referenced figure pieces were on program anyway so decided to kill two birds with one stone. And always loved this song:
So my Bettie:

I woke with a sore throat and some other silly illness like symptoms, so stayed home for the day. And felt the need for some decent pencil drawings after all those practice pieces.
I found a head sketch where not much more than the orientation lines were defined but somehow I saw an ugly alien bloke in it, so jumped on it as a warm up. Progressed it a bit further though, but still couldn't get myself to finish or just even clean it.
Sean's WSG topics and consequent browsing for Star Wars hotties made me realise that I have a soft spot for blue alien birds, so here is Aayla Secura.:-) No ref.
Might try and do a digital Chiana from Farscape next week. In colour. Just because I won't need anything else just blue and grey:-)Last edited by Einar; 09-03-2012, 01:14 PM.

Doodles and some metal surface practice.
The jar came first as an optimistic life drawing attempt, and needless to say it didn't really work. So I did more googling on the hows and also looked for more fun reference pictures, as a breastplate.

LOL, I should add "any picture in watercolours" to my promise list:-) It's gonna happen, I'm just too deep in love with digital stuff now, and also feel inclined to patch up anatomical gaps in my knowledge.
I plan some landscape painting after my recent mountain walk week, which might be a good opportunity to try out watercolours in a nice moody composition. Fuhh, plaaaans...

Your reflective metal images are really pretty amazing, man. You got the lighting/texture/tonal values just right! Very convincing.http://www.lostonwallace.com

Hey Loston, thanks very much. I have had real great problems with rendering reflective surfaces, so decided to do some practice. Need a lot more, though.
Had a fairly active weekend - the weather was awesome, so couldn't sit inside. Training in the park, first proper cycle tour, and two sketching/reading sessions in the garden. It was lovely. Got sunburnt a bit, which is just great in the UK:-)
Here are some hopefully more interesting poses, non-ref each (see, Nick, I'm listening:-). I didn't clean them up, I was just messing around. Plus a few studies for a head tilted back (Loomis and the artsy poses site, as usual), as I gave such an awful one to the foreshortening girl on Tuesday. Finally an earlier ballpoint pen office sketch, which would suit the messy berza quite well.
I definitely plan a digital clean up and correction session for the Berza, it turned out quite good (apart from the awful hand and a few other issues).
And I couldn't resist the urge, so started a Chiana picture. It's gonna be detailed, with background, lights and colours showing her crawling through a service tunnel type thing in the ship. Only if I could figure out a sensible pose for her...
