Could be the paper too. A bristol board with a smooth surface should give you better results. Try experimenting a bit. A good artist supply shop has small sample sheets of the paper they're selling so you can try out a lot of different ones without having to buy them all.

Hey Viktor, thanks for the suggestion. I tried some different paper with varying results. Although the paper I used for Cap is specifically for markers it's very unforgiving, ill revisit it once I'm more comfortable with the copics.

Thanks Zanthanial, and I love them. I started doing once a week life drawing sessions a little over a month ago and I love them, it helps in a big way and being around other artist can be fun
