So basically my art culminating was to do a 2-point perspective exterior. BULLSHIT. I expected that grade 9 art would at least be doing 3-point :/. So i asked my teacher if I could do 3-point instead, because it wouldn't be as boring. it was a go. So here it is :/. If you can't tell, I don't paint traditionally often, and when i do, its not the cheap tempera pucks the school gives >.> (but either way, i'm not that good at painting) All in all pretty satisfied. i wanna paint a digital poster of this, but the thing is freaking A2 paper size, so the lag would probably destroy my comp :/ . Did i mention it's 300 dpi? lol i had to resize it just so i could upload it xD

VERY cool would friggen love a higher res version so I'd have a new wallpaper however I think maybe you should have made the whites in the city a faint color instead like a bright yellow or blue cause as it is right now it stands out just a bit too much.

The color choices are really cool...nice composition too. I think the perspective is a bit warped though. The horizon plus the two points should be a bit lower, considering how we're looking up. This would put the eye level, and also the horizon, below the image.

Defiently sweet, I think it would look better though without the blue.

thanks for all the comments guys!

literacysuks: the vanishing point problem is because my teacher orignally said the ground must be visible, so i drew the vps sort of high, but then she changed her mind and said she wants the buildings, and by then i basically had my composition ready, so all i could really do was extend the buildings.

death raven: yeah, i see it now. the two bar things are supposed to be subway lines, so i didn't know what colour to paint them so they wouldn't get muddled up in the red/violet. what colour would you suggest?

telekinetic: how high res is high res for you because the original pic is HUGE lol. yeah, i think that the whites are cutting down the effectiveness of the moon :/ the big white part on the building are supposed to be billboards a la times square, but i didn't have enough time to paint anything on them, or go over the black around them in a blue glow.

              Pretty cool, DemonX01.

I think Batman would pop from the background more if the buildings behind Batman weren't so black. With a detailed scene like this, contrast is needed to create depth. The vertical white directly behind Batman does help some, but there's just too much spotted black in the background in competition with Batman that things are flattening out. Also if Batman weren't quite so dead center or was possibly tilted or rotated a little more, it would help out the overall layout.

Perspective is very difficult, but putting your skill with it to the test like this is absolutely the way to mastering it.

loston: mmm... i had the buildings black because i couldnt imagine gotham without black... but yeah i get your point. the cape gets lost too, so i decided to add the white billboard to add some contrast... but i guess it wasnt enough

                thanks!

yea, i hate tempra. i only use it if i am doing something in charcoal because it helps it stick to the paper, and i cand give it colored backgrounds. anyway, looks cool.

Looks very good, Eric! I wish I had had your talent when I was your age, you're definitely going to be an artist to watch over the next few years.

I would just like to point out that, although 2-point perspective may seem boring next to 3-point, it's not as simple as it may seem, and as your perspective is off in this picture, I would suggest really getting a handle on 2-point before moving onto the next step. Getting a really good grasp on the basics before moving onto the intermediate and advanced stuff is going to help you a lot more as an artist in the long run.

This is a very ambitious piece. I think it was executed fairly well, all things considered. I would have liked to see Batman at a more extreme angle. Also, the pattern below Batman, which I'm guessing is supposed to be windows, just looks like a crossword puzzle. It seems out of place and clashes with everything else, and the fact that the windows are stacked in a triangle shape seems random and serves no purpose.

ah. So what would you suggest replacing them with, or would you remove them entirely?
