Highlights shouldn't go all the way to pure white. There should be some of the objects original color, or light source color (rim light). There are exceptions, like shiny leather, but not shoes and other clothes.
I think style could be an excuse for white highlightes, they sort of acceptable here. Though I agree with Veritas that muting them would improve the piece - especially on the shoes and the Tee.
I find it more important to fix the knife/hand - currently the blade has no perspective distortion though the hand holding it is pointing downwards.
The logo is larger than the book title. The figure stance is awkward considering he looks pigeon-toed. The blade overlapping his foreshortened leg interferes with the foreshortening effect.
