Nice, I love the concept. I have a nit-pick. The shadow itself doesn't appear to be following the perspective of the ground so it reads like it's coming up off the ground. It actually works better in the thumbnail. If this was your intention though, then please disregard my OCD.
I had a specific idea in mind of how I wanted the cover to be colored, so I did a mock-up for the colorist. I told him he's free to disregard whatever I had and redo it, though:
Damn, that's awesome. Such a cool mood.
Couple things:
1. Is she a ghost/transluscent? If not, I wouldn't do the fade to light blue lineart on her. It makes her look really ethereal against the black lineart in the background. If that was your intention, then good job!
2. The shadow needs to be more be elongated where it meets her feet, and compress more as it recedes into the background. As it is, it looks like it should only be going back about 10 feet rather than the 50 yards or so that the background implies. This is hard to express, so I did a quick sketch up to get it across better:
3. I'd ease up a bit on the ripped clothes. There is more fabric hanging off her than would be there if her clothes were intact. It makes it look a little like tufts of fur.
Man, I really like this. I haven't seen any of your stuff in a while, as I don't pop in here much any more, but I was following that webcomic you were drawing for a bit and this piece tops the hell out of that stuff.
I agree with Ghostcat on the shadow, but only because he pointed it out. I would've never noticed that on my own.
Wow. Except for that shadow, which really looks like it's going back too far, this is a really good cover. That cover would totally draw me in to see what's inside. Nice work, Scott.
Money can't buy you happiness, but it will pay for the search.
