Great lighting, but not sure of what he's doing exactly.

I agree with Juggertha. Great painting job. Good, solid anatomy and figure drawing. The pose is a little ambiguous, and his right arm is getting totally lost. I'm also not buying the drapery at all.

Yeah, is he getting hit with something? Gathering force? Ready to fire?

His body suggests firing to our right...but that force isn't making much sense then.

If he's getting hit, perhaps he's grimacing?

Beautiful illustration otherwise. Hope these crits are welcome.

It's coming at him from the left. Docent really look all that "gathered". Perhaps if it was swirling around and forming a ball or something. But right now, it gives the feeling of being blasted from off frame.

Really nice dramatic lighting. Love everything about the colors.

The background texture works but this piece would be on a completely new level if there was an environment included.

                  Thanks dfb
The person that commissioned it didn't want a background just a single character with the colors.

i love all the warm colours.
                    very well placed.
my only concern is the chest.
it's a bit too concave if he is pushing out this force towards a goal/enemy off screen
but i suppose works if say he were catching this ball of energy.

other than that i think it's a very solid and full piece.

I agree about the chest. That's the only place where the solidity of the figure breaks a bit. The only recommendation I could give for the pose is if his right arm (on the images left) was farther from his body. Reference RYU from street fighter charging a haduken to see what I mean. It would make it a bit more dynamic.

                      Altogether a great piece.

hey terry i see you are getting better and better at coloring, i really love the colors and the secondary light is always welcome on characters to give them the extra depth. i really like this piece, keep it up
