  • Beast Man

This is a commission I'm working on. It's Beast Man from the Masters of the Universe. He is a bad guy. I like how I drawed him. I think it is a good drawing. What do you guys think?

Lookin' good so far, Bryan! I do suggest that you play up his fur a little more though. A little more on his forearms and hanging off his elbows would really drive the "beast" part of his namesake home for viewers. Also a few jagged bits of hair flying away from his forearms might help you sell the motion of his leap a little more as well.

Also his fingers seem a little delicate looking. I'd think that Beastman would have hands that were a little more robust--powerful and rugged looking.

Hope that helps a little, man This is going to turn out great, I can tell!

Great suggestions Loston. I'll do that. This isn't the first time I've run into trouble when I've used my dainty little hands for reference.

          That is freaking hilarious!
Great action with the Beastman! I agree with the hands and making him a little 'fuzzier'. Nice pic. I am sure they will be happy.

"Girly hands make Beast Man angry, grrrr!"
nice rendering on this piece and i really dig the way you got the 'twist ' of his left forearm.
it may not be anatomically correct (and who knows with the *%&$# forearm and it's 814 different muscles and tendons)
but i think it looks cool.

Nice work , like the soft pencils
I'd move those background branches/vines from running into his spikes on his armor , its alittle distracting .

It looks like he's throwing tantrum more than actually pouncing on someone. Maybe have his lower hand raised up in a more aggressive manner like the other hand.

Does it make me totally pathetic that aside from the Title character's name I LOVE everything the He-Man universe? Why did everyone have to wear furry underwear and be named something -Man however? hahaha. Just watched the first 10 episodes of the newer series with my kids, loved it. This is nice work!

Ladies and Gentlemen.... We have a DogSoldier sighting! Where have you been dude? Post some art damn you!

Sorry about that Bfowler, I like your rendition of Beastman. The foreshortening of his legs look a little off IMO. They seem short. Everything else looks great!

I agree with dog soldier about the tangents. I like a face a bunch. I am suprised a little that you didn't take advantage of being able to make him....well, a BEAST.

Thanks for all the comments, guys. I'm a big He-man fan myself. The original as well as the 200x line. To answer a few questions.

I didn't make him more of a Beast because the guys whole buying it wanted to keep his "Classic" look/features, etc. Also, his legs are a little short on purpose to make him a bit more ape like. But come on, we've all seen He-man figures. They're all short legged.

That is really cool, really smooth and crisp pencils. I loved Masters of the Universe when I was a kid this takes me back.
