did this as kind of a joke/gift for my girlfriend, she wrote a story about a vampire she was a kid; he was called 'Jace Savanah'. I kept teasing her about it cos' it's such a cheesy name. I never got to read the story but the name has passed into legend.

nice stuff. A small crit, you should use a tool to make the moon more round. the eye is drawn directly to the bend in the moon. Nice work on this piece.

The vampire seems kind of short in stature. He looks to be about 5'4" tall. I don't know if that was intentional or not, but it's something I noticed right away. The girl is nicely drawn! You handled her figure very gracefully, and I dig the long, flowing hair--nice!

Love the lush color of the drapes, ditchman, but they're kind of stealing the show. Toning them down a bit (desaturating them) might help viewers focus on the characters a little more.

The lighting on this piece seems rather odd, considering that the only visible light source is the Moon in the window behind the vampire. If the figures are back lighted like this, most of the figures would probably be in shadow with some edge lighting. For my personal taste in all things horror, this drawing is in need of some spotted black shadow shapes. Nothing conveys dark, sinister, gothic, death and horror like heavy black shadows. Dark shadows set the tone and mood of an illustration like this, and the colors alone aren't really conveying the horror elements as well as they could in conjunction with spotted black shapes. I think that it's a key ingredient that's missing from your drawing.

Be careful with the blood on the floor though, ditchman. I don't think blood is as reflective as water. This sort of looks like bloody urine or something below the vampire's feet. I would recommend making the center part of the blood spill more red, at least, to sell that it's indeed supposed to be blood, and not any other liquid. The white highlights on the edges of the blood are nice though.

I think this could be a pretty nice illustration if it was tweaked a little here and there. It looks like you had a fun time drawing this one, Jamie! Thanks for sharing it!

        thanks for the help there.

Ugga Bugga - I fixed the moon a bit

Loston - that was very in-depth, thanks for spending so much time helping me out. You were spot on... I fixed a few of the issues (his stature, the drapes, the blood pool) but I'm gonna leave the black shadows and stuff, even though it's begging for back-lighting, I think that will be a lot of work and I think it looks ok as is.

I updated the image with my fixes - I hope that's a little better now.

        cheers

Sometimes it's good to take a little artistic licensing, and I understand that, man. Still, I think the changes you did make helped a lot! Looking a lot better now!
