Thanks guys, I've never liked Carnage. He sort of came after I stopped reading Marvel I think. I never really understood why he needed to exist other than to be more EXTREME for the times. I also find red a hard color to work with in an atmosphere as far as costumes go.

I'll take the Paul Pope bit as a compliment, as he's a good artist.

Love this piece man! That depiction of Carnage is highly original, almost like he's melting.

I love the bg colors. Subtle, yet extremely complimentary to the characters in the foreground. It creates a nice bit of mood & atmosphere in the illustration, while adding extra depth of field to the drawing. I also enjoy the way the buildings become looser, more abstract and ethereal the further away they are. There is a clarity to your image that is fantastic. The minimal background detailing helps to the environment details from overrunning the more important subject matter. The heavy black shadows you spotted on the characters in the foreground though is what really separate the figures from the other details. The contrast you've created using all of these things makes this a very balanced drawing that works on many levels. That's not an easy thing to accomplish, so I salute you.

The only thing I'm not so keen on is the building behind Spidey that lines up with the contours of the right side of Spidey's head. It's not a major flaw by any means, but it's worth pointing out. That building is a fantastic middle ground element, but if it were moved either more to the left or a little more to the right so that the edge of the building didn't line-up with Spidey's head so much, more depth would have been created. The colors really help though. I imagine that the line-up would be much more distracting in black & white.

So...I guess what I'm saying here is that you've created another great piece of work, Paul. You keep getting better and better, and I'm not the only person that has noticed. I've been very impressed with your inking over the last year or so. You've come a long way, baby!

I was just explaining to somebody about how you've grown, as we looked at this. Then I read Loston's comment about you growing as well, so I figured I'd mention that I'd mentioned it to my friend.

Anyway, this piece is excellent, Paul! I love your color choices.

Thanks guys. While Spider-Man is a lot of fun to draw, I'm still sort of figuring it out.

I'm pretty sure this is the first time I've ever drawn sky scrapers and buildings. I just kind of winged it, and yeah I would have moved that one building to the left it retrospect.

One of these days I'll take a class and figure out perspective like a grown up.
