  • Breath of Fire

Who remembers the awesome RPG Breath of Fire on the ol' SNES? I was thinking about it and did a piece with RYU the main character and the the final dragon form that he would transform into (Rudra).

I was trying a few different inking techniques and some feel successful others not so much. I feel more confident with my inking tho now that I'm having fun experimenting. Let me know your thoughts.

I had Breath of Fire 4 for Ps1 and it was probably the best rpg experience ever. I loved the story, and the characters, I mean all of them were to love. Scias was probably the coolest fighter ever, I loved that game so much. Nice pic man!

Hey Todos, even though I voted for Ballpoint's piece I wanted to say how good this drawing is, especially the main character, solid pose, very epic.. Only thing that threw me off was the dragon, while the main character has nice blacks, the dragon is pure lineart. I think if you pushed the dragon more to the back by adding deep darks, the main character would've popped out more.

Thanks for the comments guys I really appreciate it you're all to kind.
As far as the inking the dragon I see what you mean slam. I left it open so that way latter I would push the dragon back more in the colors was my original thought but I need to make sure it works with just inks too.

Nice work, I dig the Ryu character. The dragon could use some lines for depth if you want to Frazetta the piece out.

Great game, and a nice piece of art. If I had to guess though, you were way more confident inking Ryu, than the dragon form.

I would consider either a core shadow, or rim lighting, on the dragon as well as a bit of texture. (And I just noticed that slam already kind of covered that.)
