    Thanks yomark. I basically use Photoshop Elements 4.0 to ink the piece with the brush tool and then I use a combination of that and Photoshop to add in the colors.

    I love the clean look of the rendering on Motoko. It looks like vector work. What software did you use? I'm not strong on backgrounds, either, but just a suggestion: a simple gradient or a burst (something just graphic) can pop out the figure fairly effectively. I mention this, because I too feel the need for something in the background sometimes, but don't always want to put in the effort or research necessary to produce a "narrative" setting.

    Ghost in the Shell - Motoko Kusanagi

    Here's a little fanart of the lead character in Shirow's Ghost in the Shell series. I didn't base the look on any specific show, just sorta made my own version of it with some of her characteristics. Background's kinda lame but I'm not that great with them to begin with. Still, it looks nice having something there. Enjoy!
