I just found an old pic I drew of my character bear Sven as Leonidas. Might do a tight version of this and color it sooner or later.

I don't think the little tic-marks as hatching are really working for you, especially in the first image where the colors conflict with them. The colors show the light source as coming from the left side of the image, whereas the hatching would indicate the light source is coming from the right. In such a simplified style as this, I would probably do away with hatching altogether (especially if you're going to color it), or go for a more intricate style of hatching that doesn't flatten out the figures the way those tic-marks do.
