Hey Guys,
I’m not begging for artists.
We've all seen on them in this forum and similar forums do that. it ain't cool
I know asking an artist I have never met before to put all their time, effort and talent into a 24 page project is a great insult.
I’m creating an anthology horror book with 4-6 individual 5-7 page horror stories (depending on what budget I have remaining) like EC comics used to do, but bringing them into the 21st century.
The stories are already written and I’m looking for artists to each take a story and pencil and ink it. I have two artists on board already.
I wanted to see if any of you guys might be interested in having a crack at the other stories.
The plan is to self-publish the book to sell at conventions to get my name out there as a writer.
(Because let’s face it fortune and glory will very rarely actually come and find you, you have to pay your dues and put the effort in)
I have also been quite lucky as to make contact with a couple of publishers that are interested in seeing the completed project with the possibility of commissioning more.
From your point of you, you are gonna get paid for your art and time, you’re gonna get your work seen by professional peers with the opportunity of further work if the project gets green lit.
With regards to payment I have come up with a few options that I will speak to artists about individually. But just so you don’t think that I’m wasting your time. One of my current artists has a flat page rate which we negotiated on because he understood that I’m self-funding this, the second wanted a lower page rate but wanted a percentage of the rights and any profit that the book makes.
Or if you have some free time and you are able to crank out 5 quality pages for free you can have an equal share of the profit and rights not just a percentage.
So hopefully you can see I’m neither a selfish prick nor a time waster.
If you are interested or have any questions please feel free to drop me a message.
Thanks for taking the time to read this message
