Attending my first con as a guest!

So...I'm attending the Nottingham comic con as a guest in October.

It's the first time I've ever been invited to attend a con as a 'guest' and it's really exciting.

As if that wasn't enough for my simple little brain to deal with - it was recently announced that Duncan Fegredo will also be a guest at the same con.

I'm on the guest list with Duncan Fegredo.

    How awesome is that?!

I just wanted to tell everyone - cos I hope it'll spur some of you on with the convention scene. Stick with it, guys and gals, you never know when you're gonna get lucky!

    It's about time!

I've been a fan since waaaay back (circa 2001):

(Sacred Pie fan art from Dean, like 14 years ago!)

Nowadays, you've got one of the most distinctive styles out there, amazing technique, and brilliantly clever visual takes on both classic and original characters. Duncan should be crapping his pants that he's there with YOU! Congrats!

CONgratulations (I couldn't resist). Well deserved. I can't say I've been a fan since 2001 but I have been a fan since you started developing your current style. I'm still pissed that I don't own a print but I don't have a paypal account. The moment I get one, a Beastie print will be my first purchase.

                    @battlewraith - Thanks!
@pencilero - cheers! I've been doing them for about 4 years. Aside from the fact that they're great fun - I've met an amazingly driven crowd of people who push and support each other to work hard and get comics made!
@fallenangel - yeah, I think this is only the 2nd or 3rd time they've held it. The guy organising it seems to be quite good with the advertising too. :-D Would be good if you're around for this year's event!
@smitty That is EXACTLY what it looks like when I walk down the street :-D cheers!
@fatmancomics - thanks! I'll have to get some new prints done so that you just resist buying one :-D
@corey - cheers! Its definitely given me a boost.

Only in my own living room

I've done 2 issues of my own comic book, a few short stories in small publisher anthologies - and the odd pin-up here and there.

I'm only a baby of the comic world.

Congrats. What is the difference between being a guest and being a regular attendee? (besides having your name on the marquee and getting certain perks).
Do you have to be on panels and stuff?

I'd like to know any details you'd be kind enough to share Beastie.

I assume at the very least your table fee (the $100-300 you need to make back before you profit) is waived.

Well, I get my name on the website with a big banner and bio (and obviously listed in the guest section rather than with exhibitors). I'll go on all the literature and flyers etc - and I get my table and travel for free.

I have not, as yet, asked to be part of any panels.

I'd imagine that other cons might offer different things - but have no experience beyond this one.
