Yes, they did film a lot of Spidy 1 and 2 in New York, but most of 3 was shot in LA (just outside my friends apartment to boot), and most of the stages are built and filmed in LA. They might go to New York to film some exteriors or establishing shots, but it's expensive to halt downtown New York for a few hours to do so and this movie has a much smaller budget than the first 3 Spider-Man films.

They do an awful lot of shows in LA that are supposed to take place in NY or other big metropolitan cities. I saw them film some of Heroes and CSI shows a few times while I was working around the area. All they do is add a few yellow taxis, film around the sky scraper dense areas and BAM! Insta-New York.

Honestly I used to love Spidey. The Tobey movies changed that, I hated ALL OF THEM. Probably because I hate him as an actor and as Peter, didn't like the villian designs, didn't like the plots, didn't like anything. Suit looks good, but I still want to see the Trailer.
