I wish they'd just gone with the Maguire costume and given us a new story with new actors. I'd have an easier time accepting someone else in the role of Peter Parker than I do with a costume design this revised. At some point it doesn't look like "Spider-Man", it looks like "imitation Spider-Man". Like I'm being offered the cheap Chinese knock-off version.

It seems like they want to distance themselves from the Raimi movies by completlely changing the costume, but the old costume was perfect. This looks awful.

lets be real, the original costume is not "flawless". its an awkward design that is just classic. the symbiote spiderman design is far more sleek and stylish and design savvy.
i dont love this new costume but i dont necesaarily hate...wait yeah i do i cant lie LOL

The original costume IS flawless. It's the reason why no matter how many times they try to change it, they always go back to the original.

You guys suck, I like it. As long as the story isn't balls I'm in this 100%. The classic look is just that. It's almost 50 years old. I don't mind the updates. It looks fresh and modern. It's essentially the same damn design, though. All the basic designs and colors are there. The suit is only half of it. As long they keep him a broke, wise cracking, teen/young adult with a science background I'm good. I actually care more about that than what he's wearing.

I'd like to hope so. Whether we agree that it's flawless or not, the original costume design is iconic. Messing with that is pretty risky business... even if they get the character right, it's not going to feel like the "real" Spider-Man when the costume is this significantly modified.

The Symbiote costume is the closest they've ever come to an effective redesign, and even that wasn't permanent. It was successful enough to spin off into its own character, but eventually they came back to the classic Ditko design. There's been many minor variations on that, but never a successful major variation like this one (and considering how many elements are changed, especially in terms of the basic pattern, I think it's fair to call this a major variation). And heck, one of the only reasons the Symbiote costume does work is because it stand on its own design merits. It's completely different from the red & blues, not a variation of them.

You know what Hollywood does to movies. Superhero movies in particular. Why bother expecting perfection? It's not going to happen. How close to the original was Nolan's Batman suit to the spandex comic version? Pretty far off I think, yet people love the movie. The armored modifications made sense. The costume is only part of the character. As long as it works on film and the character's other traits are in tact then I'm satisfied.

the original design is top heavy. the boots dont make sense. i like the original design too, im not hating on it or anything, im just saying, its classic, not perfect. the symbiote design is flawless but not classic
