  • So.....they're suggesting that Peter's dad had already succeeded with the research that Connors is doing - and, somehow, that's the reason that Peter got his spider powers? Through genetic tinkering - rather than via the spider bite?

I guess that opens the door for new versions of the Rhino, Vulture, Chameleon, Dragon Man, Manwolf, The Owl, Puma, Scorpion (etc etc) - and, of course, for Kraven to come and hunt them all down.

    • Saw this blurb, so now I'm really hoping this movie succeeds.

I'd be pretty content to see this same actor play Spiderman for awhile. He just has the look.

At Comic-Con last summer, Arad was asked if he would consider allowing Spider-Man to appear in an Avengers movie. At the time Arad insisted there were enough Spider-Man stories to keep him separate. Now that The Avengers is such a phenomenon, he is even open to considering making a deal between Sony’s Spidey and Disney’s Avengers. He says he thought of the Venom crossover possibility independently of Avengers though.

“Everything is possible,” Arad said. “If something like that happens, it’s great for Disney, it’s great for Sony. If the right story comes in, we are now working on Venom first. It’s our first out. So our thinking is in the right direction. Avengers to me was an expected success so I never looked at it because Avengers was successful.”

The way to make team up movies work, Arad says, is to create the raw materials, both technically and creatively, in other movies first. “Team ups can happen once you create the character, establish the CG, otherwise it’s not affordable.”
“Don't think about making art, just get it done. Let everyone else decide if it's good or bad, whether they love it or hate it. While they are deciding, make even more art.” ― Andy Warhol

        • Guess I was late to hear info on a Venom movie. Interesting.

          • Venom has been in the works since after spider-man 3. Though now which venom are we getting? Personally its hard to pick Eddie vs Flash.

            • wait, Flash's venom nowadays?
Man, I knew I haven't read comics in a while (Spidey stopped being published in sweden a while after Brand new day), but that was quite some news.
So I gotta ask, albeit being off topic here, did Eddie die or was he sorta restored at the spidey-swipe BND?

And more on topic here; I like that clip. Gives his douchebaggery purpose.

              • Flash has been venom for a while and eddie hasn't been venom in years. Personally i like flash as venom. He has this solider gig as venom and is trying to be a hero while not letting it take him over but it does at times.

I'm with you, Dave. I don't get it either. I also don't get the lashing out at the Raimi films.

"This is going to be everything that I wanted from the Raimi films." Really? Yeah, things could have been better in Raimi's trilogy, and yeah, there were many missed opportunities. But don't make me believe that Marc Webb and Co. have made THE Spider-Man movie. Not based on the trailers and clips. Not based on, again, the miscasting of the female lead. Not based on the apparent "Ultimate" version of his origin, which sounds stupid imo.

Yes, the trailers have provided some cool Spidey shots. Look, he climbs walls!! Look, he does some nifty body twists while he swings through the city!! Look, he can hold a car with one hand!!! Holy shit, he's a wise-crackin' S.O.B.!!!

I'll believe this movie is good when I see it. Until then, Spider-Man 2 is still one of the absolute best superhero films ever made.

                        • I really don't see how Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy is any worse than Kirsten Dunst as MJ.

Even though I'm very hyped for this movie, much more than The Avengers and DKR, I don't agree with anyone bashing Raimi's version. I loved the first two films, and have fond memories of watching them. I try and pretend that the third film doesn't exist. I liked Toby as PP at the time but I'm excited to see what Garfield can do, and he just looks like PP to me, its crazy.

There are just as many negative comments about this film as positive, if not more so.

I don't think she's worse. Dunst was a HORRIBLE miscast as MJ. Just HORRIBLE. But Emma Stone just doesn't work for me as Gwen. It probably has something to do with how even Raimi couldn't find an actual blond to fill the part. Could I end up liking her in the role? It's possible, but the clips I've seen, I just don't think she works...imo.

                              • I liked the first two Raimi movies as well, the 3rd was very unfortunate. This one looks like it'll be pretty good as well though.

I also think I'll enjoy the new Batman movie.
