I think the belt is missing from this image. I'm guessing it was lost during the scene from which the pic was taken. You can see a shadow where the belt was (I think soeone else mentioned this in another thread). Anyway, the belt is important for the costume - holds web fluid cartidges, Spidey-light, and the camera (if they use that feature in the film), plus it makes the costume look right, aaaand it keeps Spidey's pants up. I think Garfield looks more like Pete than McGuire and I don't mind him being lanky. I'm also really happy about the webshooters and I hope they delve more into Pete's genius. I have high hopes for this reboot, though I'm not excited about it yet. I'm looking forward to seeing the mask - I might get excited then.

I'm also keeping my fingers crossed about the Lizard's look - they could screw that up BIG time. And then I'd be pissed.
    Cheers, Alex

Actually in the first movie they skipped forward like a year after he decided to become a hero. Or atleast the videogame said it skipped forward a year.

I dunno, I'm not a fan of quick reboots (except for the Hulk, and only then because the original was so off target there was no saving it), but I'm not a fan of recastings, either.

Spiderman 1 was pretty great as far as origin movies go. Having to sit through another spider bite, wrestling tryout and Uncle Ben slaying sounds tiresome, but I'll still probably see it if I hear that it's good.

i wouldn't be surprised if they only "recap" how he became spidey in the opening credits, like The Incredible Hulk.

but if it happens during inner monologues or intimate discussions....

I find this interesting. Are they currently making Peter look like Garfield in the comics, like they're making Thor look like Hemsworth? Or are you talking historically?

Historically. I feel Garfield has a look truer to the Peter Parker of my comic book collecting days. McGuire has a bug-eyed dumbfounded look on at all times and it always put me off a bit. He was ok for the role, but I think Garfield can pull off "awkward, yet powerful" better. Plus he just looks like the Pete I know.

I'm not getting that vibe from him yet. From a Hollywood leading male standpoint, he fits the role better than Maguire, and ultimately I think that's the ONLY thing that makes Garfield "right" for playing Peter Parker in this reboot.

At a distance, you can't even tell the new costume apart from the original.

it looks like the old atari game "spiderman"!
i'm glad they stayed true to the source material (atari).

Don't get me wrong, I'm going to watch this film when it comes out. But my feelings from the very first time I heard about this was, and remains, that it's way too soon. I'm not sure what audience they're going to try and appeal to that won't remember that there was just a Spider-Man trilogy that ended less than four years ago. And as bad as everyone proclaims Spider-Man 3 to be, it still took in $890M worldwide. Eight Hundred and Ninety MILLION. This isn't Ang Lee's Hulk that Marvel hoped everyone would forget. This was a very successful trilogy of films, all three of which are on the All Time Top 20 Domestic Box Office chart.

It just has an air of bad karma to me. Throw all these "hot-at-the-moment" young actors into this reboot of a franchise that didn't need it. I dunno. We'll see...
My main concern is if this movie does really well, you will mostly likely see alot of movies getting rebooted only 3-5 years after the original one(maybe even less than that). It will be the Hey this show was ok, lates make a movie about it, thing all over again.

ive seen a few other pics from this spy photos ( at SHH.) He has two blue fingers, and a red stripe down each of his legs, and it looks like he doesnt have a symbol on his back but then again- its a bad quality picture.

I'd rather have a reboot than a franchise where each sequel gets worse as they go along a la the Batman franchise after Tim Burton left.
I didn't really like the costume in the last franchise and yes, we all went to see the third one but we did it because the first two kicked so much butt. The third one was ridiculously bad and even more convoluted than X-Men 3.

I think the reason they're rebooting it is because the public is losing faith in the Marvel movies thanks to the last Hulk and Iron Man (I actually liked Iron Man 2) movies so they want to keep the young 'ens interested until Cap and Thor come about. Or perhaps it's to make back their money when Cap and Thor turn out to be bombs. I don't have much faith in a Cap movie that doesn't have NAZIs in it and I just plain don't have any faith in a Thor movie. But Iron Man proved me wrong so I may be wrong about those two as well.

In the end, it's not the costume that makes it a good movie but a good script, a good director and a good (enough) cast.
