  • I wish this show was a lot more like every zombie movie I have ever seen. I want to get to know a few main characters, some satellite characters that are for all intents and purposes archetypes or stereotypes, and then watch them all die one by one until the main characters who we knew where never going to die, except for the black one or woman as a noble sacrifice, are finally faced with a shimmer of hope, only to have it quashed out by overbearing despair and their ultimate demise. And then it is over.

That is really what I would like to see out of this show. Also, there were not enough zombies and too much talking! Bang bang!

They did a really bad job of conveying the time Rick was away.

Point in fact, the relationship between his wife and his friend is to abrupt. They should have reworked that section

The audience doesn't have time to understand why they might be together, and it just comes off really cliche.

Anyway,I'm sure it will get better over time, but I heard that AMC only ordered 6 more episodes for this year.
6 this year 13 next year.

I actually thought the passage of time in the hospital was a bit of writing/directing genius. There was a full bloom of flowers and then Rick still thinking his friend was there only to discover the wilted flowers. That was much better narrative devise than the ,"3 weeks later..." flashed on the screen.

I think they'll draw out the love triangle plot line a lot more in the series than they did in the comic. I don't think it takes away from anything. The viewer along with Rick is weeks behind on everything in this new world. His wife with his best friend won' be his only thing he (or us as viewer) will be shocked at by now following the story of these characters the past weeks.

        • I'm hoping this series does great and more networks develop other comic properties. It'd would be great to see series' based on 100 Bullets, Preacher, and Scalped.

I agree. I thought that was a prety slick way of showing the passage of time. I did drag if you compare it to the comic, but for a tv series it seemed just right. I like that even though I pretty much know the comic there are still some "Oh shit" moments like what he found for example when he was following the hlicopter.

The guy who directed Ghost Rider was supposed to be doing a Preacher TV series for a while. I'm glad that never came out.

Not everything is a Directors Issue. Ghost Rider had problems in the writing as well. Also Directors don't always have say in how a film is made. There are plenty of times a Director is just a Yes man and will do what the Producers tell him to.

                  • Liked it. I'm addicted to the comics so it was a little slow for me since I've already seen this part of the story but I did like the character development of the black guy a lot more than the way he was written in the comics. I also like the fact that he knew some things about the zombies like gunshots attracting them and that he wasn't trusting of Rick right away like he was in the comics.

Hate Lori's character in this though. In the book I didn't get too much of a feel for her character but in this she seems like a bitch right away.

There were enough inside joke moments (like Rick getting shot by the third guy in the car) for those of us who read the comics.

I really hope it gets picked up for more episodes and I gotta say that AMC has idiots on its payroll to not have this on demand.

He also wrote Ghost Rider, so if it was the writer's fault, he's still to blame. Also, according to IMDb he wrote and directed Daredevil. I agree directors aren't always to blame when it comes to bad movies, but I don't want the guy who already did lame adaptations of two comic books to move onto Preacher to complete his trilogy of mediocrity.

Ah I didn't know that. I just see it a lot people alway either blame the actor or director for a movie. When a lot of times there are so many people involved in what needs to happen for some reason or anther. I didn't mind Ghost Rider so much compared to Daredevil. I thought Nick Cage's overacting was funny. Wish we'd get a rated R Midnight Son's oh how i loved that comic.

Two counterpoints: 1) she thinks Rick is dead, and she's the kind of woman who needs to be with someone for a sense of protection and stability, and 2) I always thought there might be a bit of implication that she was cheating on Rick with Shane before it all went to hell (or she wanted to)... the end of the world was just the excuse they needed to stop hiding it.

I haven't watched it, but my on demand has it.
I totaly thought something was going to happen in the stairwell. It was dark and slow moving, but the predictable thing would have been something to jump out. So I am glad that didn't happen.

Yeah they did good with that. The giveaway would have been if the POV had switched to behind the guy as he went down the stairs then switched back. That always gives a clue that some cat will be tossed out of a garbage can or out of a cupboard.
