I liked it, but it missed the whole zombie revelation, the chaos and utter pandemonium when the world realizes the dead are coming back to life and trying to deal with it. That's my favorite part of zombie movies, when everyone realizes just how bad things are and are going to get worse. The zombies look like Hollywood zombies, but are done very well. I am looking forward to the rest of the series.

Its past that point, it sometime after the breakdown of society so the intial zombie break out panic hysteria is replaced with survivla mode instead.
though I know what you mean, total chaos would be crazy exciting in this story. I would love to see downtown atlanta in the intial stages of the pandemic

I got weak and downloaded it before it aired, but I'm going to watch it on my DVR over and over again now that I have it in HD.
Man oh man was I stoked for this series when there were just a few images floating around the internet. Now that I've seen the premiere I wish there were about 35 episodes in the can that I could catch up on before having to begin the agonizing wait between episodes. Absolutely brilliant.

My fiancee and I watched it last night, but we didn't realize it was a 90 minute episode. Turned it off at 11 thinking it was over... d'oh!

Yeah man - last 30 mins were great. I work in Atlanta, and driving to work this morning was creeepy. The final bit where he went through that thing just before doing that other thing was a brilliant piece of camerawork. (Being intentionally vague for Scott's sake).

Damn my rare attempts at social interaction! Also, damn my crappy memory for spacing out on the DVR programming. Oh, well... I'll see it Friday, if not sooner.
I'm surprised they're not streaming it off AMC.com or Hulu or something. There's got to be some sense of strategy behind that, but I don't know what that would be... don't they realize the main rule of getting people addicted is to let them have the first hit easy and free?

I think they want you to buy the episodes from iTunes or Amazon rather than watch them for free.

I think the honeymoon is over on this so I'm going to crit this for a sec on the storytelling side.
They did a really bad job of conveying the time Rick was away.
Point in fact, the relationship between his wife and his friend is to abrupt. They should have reworked that section
The audience doesn't have time to understand why they might be together, and it just comes off really cliche.
Anyway,I'm sure it will get better over time, but I heard that AMC only ordered 6 more episodes for this year.“Don't think about making art, just get it done. Let everyone else decide if it's good or bad, whether they love it or hate it. While they are deciding, make even more art.” ― Andy Warhol

so alfter begging, pleading and threatening my father in law to DVR it, it turns out that we get AMC free this month!
watched it with my wife, who's a fan of Zombe genre, but not comics, (though she likes most movies based on comics) really liked it even though I knew what was prpbably going to happen, just not how exactly it would. it seemed to drag on though, could have used more action alfter he woke up in the hospital.
really liked the scene with the dad and the sniper rifle, made me care more about the guy and his son than the comic did.
