  • Serkworks posted his last video at YouTube

I found out about this guy here at Penciljack a few years ago, he always had great advice for making comics. After eight years, he’s quitting.

Hadn't heard of him. But I'll have to check out his backlog. He talks about maintaining his integrity. No wonder the youtube algorithm doesn't like him
    Damn this chicks hot.

I'd never watched of a video of his ever. I'd seen them posted here. Seems like a genuine guy.

I don't know about anyone else - but as I transition from teenager to adult - I never had time for anything I enjoyed anymore. And watching videos on YouTube takes time.

I really loved comics (and still do). But I graduated in the financial crisis and was unemployed for 13 months. And very quickly I got married, got a mortgage and kids. Following dreams and hobbies and spending time on things like watching a how to produce comics channel are a luxury in my life. And it wasn't just comics. As life has gone on, I don't really follow anything anymore that I did growing up - Football (soccer), Comics, Formula 1 racing, bodybuilding, WWE, even casual reading.

To keep pace with modern life and the demands of work - I've not had time for a channel like that - which is what I wanted growing up.

His content seems genuinely instructional - and so its for a minority of people who are focusing on their craft. Whilst entertainment is what you watch when you're brain dead. That's where I think he's fallen down. Someone watching his channel would need to be focused on the solving the problem of "how to make comics". And most of us work out - the best way is to make comics rather than watch a video.

Oh yeah, this guy. Checked out a couple of his videos a few years back, but didn't continue or subscribe or anything. He's pretty legit, and it's impressive to have a full arc of videos like that. Normally people just fade away, but for him to do an official signoff is pretty interesting.

It's tough out there on the internet – my wife's job is similar (making videos for the internet), and while we do well with it, I'm aware it could all go away at any time.

I guess he just felt that he had said all there was for him to say.

Sounds more like he didn't think the time was worth the money...
