i just wanna say if there was a player batting 750 in AA ball, theres no way that they would let him stay in AA ball XD

Okay I have a few minutes so here is a basic summary.

The top 4 from all weight classes face the top four from the weight class above. We make it a random draw who faces who.

A universal topic so if someone no-shows then we have our butts covered. The topic can be one that is voted on by those who will compete OR we could give the HeavyWeight Champ the honor of picking it.

Now after thinking about it we could keep the ranks going, BUT the wildcard piecesmfot the top 4 would just be their ranked pieces. That way we aren't trying to spread people super thin.

    So for example

    #3 HW vs # 1 LHW
    #5 HW vs # 3 LHW
    And so on...

Listen I honestlythink this would solve some problems, AND we could do it next month and use Ed's idea in AUGUST as an end of summer send off.

-We have the ranked polls as usual, but we also have a class-wide poll.

-The winner of the class-wide poll moves up a class
    .

Spidey, if you want to do up a summary of your idea... then we can put it to a poll and get it decided on.
I will put up a summary in a few hours ... heading out with the family right now ... but I am going to say this. As much as I like your idea Ed it wont solve the problem.

I think in general, a lot of what we're all saying is basically the same with differing ways to vote or decide who moves up.
I would prefer to give more than one person the opportunity to move up, but I also think there should be ranked matches.
It's not fair to that #5 guy who wins and possibly stays at #5 or ends up in a three way the next month.
I really think the best thing is to find a way to combine ranked and "wildcard"(meaning a way to jump rank) matches.
If we can find a way to still rank the top four in the event that they do not move up spidey's idea could work well.

I like Jugg's idea where there's a second vote for the same piece. I'm not really crazy about the idea of not having the regular ranked matches next month.

Just not or the top 4. Everyone else is on. The next month we would have a few three ways at the top of the division if guys dont move up.

Alright...I think I'm still a little confused. So there would be no ranked matches at all? or just not for the top 4?

I don't get how running just a wildcard one month will work for everyone. Can you explain it?

We are trying to hard here let's make it easier not more complicated. The first round of wildcards moved FOUR LW into the MW. The second round was a flop because we INSISTED on having the ranked matches. PUMMELMANIA would have flown if we cancelled the ranked matches, but almost NO one wanted to hear that, and the funny thing was ... Out of all the guys who swore up and down that they could do both ONLY like two guys did, the other like twenty ONLY did their ranked matches.

Leta face it even the Street Fights are drying up because everyone is busy, and MOST people are focussing on their ranked matches. SO if you want another EPIC failure for an event I suggest by all means keep the ranked matches going. If you want a success pull them for the wildcard participants and let's get down to business because right now we are suffering DEATH BY COMMITEE.

With my idea, ppl would be just doing one piece but it'd be voted on twice.

One more thing, I believe that Chris Majors and Rob W. Sales moved up to the heavy-weight division before I did, but didn't participate in any ranked matches? Perhaps the mods could PM these guys and see if they are interested in rejoining that division, and that would mean 3 more competitors in June in the Heavies (Morganza is going to be in the heavies starting in June, also).

I agree with you here! I think one of the major problems with the wildcard match (at least insofar as I understand it) is that there is really not a lot of incentive for the Heavyweights to participate, at least not as much as the other weight classes that have an opportunity to move up.

I think I ultimately side with Armstrong in the idea that we should probably just leave well enough alone, and have to live with smaller groups in the lightweight and Heavyweight divisions of PUMMEL? Right now I am not seeing a ton of Light Heavies clamoring to move up to the Heavies, and since I'm a "drawing machine" I could probably do one or two street-fights if the demand was there. It's not like I'm ducking anybody, but nobody has called any of the Heavies out, which tells me a) the Light Heavies are satisfied to try and move up through the ranks or b) they are collectively too busy to do street fights right now.

There are clear cut methods already in place for moving up (I certainly availed myself of them about a year ago to go from the middleweights to the Light Heavies, myself), IF that is what people want to do.

I wasnt going to comment earlier because I assumed someone else would. Now I am not so sure, but the class poll doesnt have any extra work involved...it appears to me to be merely an additional poll where everyone can vote for the best piece of the class.
