Thanks go to Scrappy for this silent story of blood and gore.

Stoat – I really like the pencils. They still have that 'energy' that gets lost the farther down the assembly line (inking and colors) that they go. The very first panel shows what I mean. That explosion is very cool. The expressions are nicely done, and the vampires eyes in page 3, panel 2 are awesome. Seeing how everybody does the werewolf transformation is a real treat. The same written word, and 5 different artistic choices. Crazy.

ScMarooney – The color is really well done, and the wide format page layout is cool. I really like how you use the non traditional panel layout on page 4. The overlapping and haphazard layout gives it a disjointed feel. Perfect for the werewolf transformation.

Dan3K – Of all the transformations, I like yours the best. The diagonal layout (which looks like slash marks, so I'll assume you meant to do that ) with very thin panels shows the pace of the transformation well. I also like the moment when the vamp wakes up. Great camera angle.

PeteTheCreep – The traditional inks look great. I'm going to try traditional next time (maybe). With the penciled pages you posted, I really hope you decide to finish them. You gotta break in the new daVinci brush anyway, right?

It's a shame Pete didn't get to finish. It's looking really good.

Had to go with Stoat. I dunno why but I just love the classic feeling. It feels nostalgic

      Great work all round though.

And great script, Scrappy. Cool to see it come to life in so many styles.

Great work gentlemen! I felt Stoat had the best story telling out of all the entrants.

There is a lot of fine work in this post, you guys should all be proud. I enjoyed looking through all of these.

I went with Veritas on this one. He really sold me on the action and the mood, used a good variety of shots, and has good polish with the inks and grey tones. Well done man!

Honestly a Joy to see everyones varying styles and Decision making,
                Love this comp!
Scrappy had such a fun script and the WW1 Trench setting really lends itself to some powerful imagery.
Pete- Shame you ran down on time on this,Really ambitious in your sizing, love the fluidity of the shapes and blacks and lots of hints within the pencils that this will be awesome when you finish it!

Dan- You have some really nice clean pencils going on, and love a lot of the shots you chose, especially the opening panel and both the Vampire reveal and the transformation

Sean- This so Punchy! really interested by your format, and page 4 is one of my favourites of the bunch, whole effect is both Bold but with great attention to detail of uniforms etc.

Veritas- Is a Beast at atmosphere and clarity in his storytelling, Seems to me you have a real intuitive knack for choosing great angles and shots. The Vampire bite and subsequent transformation work so well at this angle.

I'm finding this Such a fun and educational exercise, so much to learn from seeing how we each approach it and developing our sequential process.

Cant wait for Tights in space!

@ Veritas71 and Stoat- Thanks for the critiques and comments guys! I appreciate the feedback!

Thanks go out to Scrappy for providing an interesting script that grew on me as I kept drawing it ! Hope you get an idea of how varied an interpretation can be from artist to artist of a written passage or description from this exercise!

Now let me see if I can say something about each artists' work for this project:

-Stoat: I really like your penciled pages, they give a rough and somewhat chaotic air to the proceedings and environment of the World War One battlefield! I particularly liked your version of the Werewolf and your handling of the hair, which was something I was struggling with on my pages! If I had any crits to deliver on these pages it might be to push your values and contrasts somewhat to make things darker and more intense. Great job!

-Dan3k: I really like your interpretation of the trenches in your first page, especially panel 2. I think that your rendition gives a really good sense of where the action is taking place. I think I would have flipped the drawings on your page 3, panels one and two so that the figures were sort of "facing" one another, as there's a little confusion (for me at least ) in the action there. The Diagonal transformation into the werewolf is well done! Good stuff!

-Pete: I really dig your first two pages! I love the dark blacks and the heavy feeling of dread if evokes. I'd love to see more in this style from you, keep working it! Get some dip-pens to work details and line into the white areas and I think you'd really be onto something! I like the penciled pages and can appreciate how hard it is to get 5 completed pages done on something like this ! Nice job!

-Veritas71: I like your pages best of all this time out! Out of ALL the pages yours are the only ones that actually "feel" like night to me, plus you added in rain to the whole environment which makes it feel even darker and colder. I really dig the use of all that black in your pages. The SFX seem much more organic than in any of the other pages (particularly mine) and are also well done. If I had any crits for these pages it would be to have made your trench-line somewhat "deeper", so that the figures weren't visible above ground-level? But that's pretty minor-stuff. Great job!

And I am also looking forward to drawing some superheroes for the next one !

Thanks, Sean. When I was laying out the pages, I had a nagging feeling something was missing. After adding the rain, it started feeling 'right'. Plus I really like doing negative space effects like that. It adds another subtle layer to the story.

These are all so ace! Totally in awe of you guys putting together sequentials every month. Leaning towards Stoats at the moment, but want to revisit the script before voting.

Stoat had the most realistic looking scenery, great first page! The pencils have just the right amount of detail to sell the comic, reqally cool. I gotta say I didn't enjoy your werewolf design so much, looked too much of thundercats or any jap anime monster. Your vampire is also not evil enough for my taste. Still I would choose your work for a very good grasp on most things, apart from soldiers who don't know how to hold a pistol. Man you drew three squential in the last couple months, every one of them featuring people handling weapons and it always is just wrong. Next time I can't vote for you because of this

Rooney, man, taking the time to draw the dirt underneath the boarded up trench, lol. I think the most improvable part is your layout. You have a lot of empty space in your pages, and it is just dead space. Try to think of a way to really make use of all the space available, and when not using it, then do it on purpose and create tension with it. I liked your werewolf the best, really fierce-looking!!

Dan, your pages look very clean and well-crafted, A little too clean for the subject matter though imo, but that's just personal preference. One can see that you do sequentials on a regular basis! Good show! The transformation panel is really outstanding!

Veritas. Out of the five you brought the most finished product, it is crazy how you put so much stuff out in such short intervals. Kudos for your work ethic. Artwise, I feel you handled the values and the rain really well, but your characters are way too cute-looking to be a real horror comic imo. I think it's something that is lacking in all entries stoat came the closest imo.
I gotta say, I knew you are not cut out for straight horror stuff, you are way too positive man
You put on your swagger though and will bring the poll home with ease. I am really looking forward to the next seq brawl, the topic should be just perfect for you!!

Can't disagree, I came back to it, and Veritas killed on the storytelling, plus I love the inks.

Very rewarding to hear your thoughts on our work. I always like it when people take the time to go into detail. Especially when it is their own stuff they comment on. Kudos.
