I've had this idea for a while, I wanted to choose a topic that doesn't have a lot of visuals associated with it, so people would have to imagine characters and environments without a definite model to work from. Might be a pain in the arse, but I think it would really showcase people's creative abilities. Of course, that means literature, and almost anything I pick will be something many people haven't read. Ah well, its something different so I'm going with it. My topic suggestion is Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time art. There's a great selection of Darrel Sweet cover paintings online, and the Dabel brothers have even released pages of their up and coming graphic novel, so reference is available. The wikipedia page has plenty of info and descriptions, and the possibilities are insanely numerous (12 books and counting). So, there it is; let me know if this is too awful an idea to work with.

Have at it!
Normal rules etc. apply.
Remember, this is the final month of the year long challenge! Make it a good one folks!
Uberfan's character descriptions (for those unfamiliar with the series, VERY detailed physical character descriptions- especially through the "main characters" link):

Oh sure, it might look like I'm drawing Fedaykin, Freman, Sardaukar and Sandworms, but I assure you, they are not.
I'm thinking a sequential as two chicks stare at each other. One smooths her skirt while the other one tugs on her braid. This goes on for seven thousand pages.

Heh....I totally have to skim over a bunch of the "girl" chapters for this same reason.
I'd even rather read Perrin boo-hoo-ing about how hard women are to understand or Rand bitchin' about all of his amazing (yet, for some reason, unwanted) power.

I *almost* went with Dune. In the end, I was stoked by having just read Gathering Storm. Lets get to work on those scowling women!
Awesome. So I'm not the only one drawing a Myrddraal. This is probably as done as I'll get as I have work the rest of the week and then the wife is dragging me off on vacation. Having not read any of the books, this is something generic based on the wikipedia entry.
Nice illustrations, Adam and McNeil! I decided to get with the program this month and figure out what I was going to draw more than 24 hours in advance of the deadline. Unfortunately I knew nothing about WOT. I went to the library and got a book called "The World of Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time" and saw a pic of a samurai warrior riding a big lizard. I thought it was a little weird and kept looking. Nothing else really sparked my imagination though, so I took some detailed notes and here is my picture of a Torm being ridden by a Morat-Torm putting some hurt on some Trollocs (which I figure are like Tolkien's orcs?). So, just wanted to make it clear I had to do some research to get this on paper.
This is drawn at 11x14 on 2 ply bristol board with dip pens and colored pencils (nope still can't color digitally 8^/).
Thanks for looking!

Ok, i never even heard of these books till you posted the topic and had very lil time to do some normal research.
But i read in Wikipedia that there was some kind of a huge battle when in the end of it all men got crazy and went to destroying the world...or something like that.
So figured that it was a nice scene to draw...
