    Weekly Sketch Group #339

Welcome to WSG #339! All PencilJack Members can participate in the weekly sketch group simply by posting a sketch, drawing, or painted-study of one of the topics below. If you don't like the topics, PM me with a topic you'd like to draw next week in the Sketch Group, and I will try to include it there !

    Weekly Sketch Group #339 Topics:

    1. Meridian was a fantasy-comic series published by CrossGen comics running from 2000-2004 for 44 issues! Draw your favorite characters from the Meridian series OR check this link if you are like me and never read the comic ! Link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meridian_(comics)

    2. Attack on Titan! Draw your favorite characters from the smash hit Manga and Anime cartoon series! Link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Attack_on_Titan

    3.

    by Aaron Dennis

An old Creole Mama - I stared wide-eyed. Her long, uneven, gray hair had twine, bones, sticks, and cloth woven into it. Her clothes were patchwork, pieces of sullied, red gowns—maybe a potato sack. She wore homemade sandals and smelled of rosemary. I noticed her teeth were all clean and accounted for - Shadowman

=====> And there you have it my fellow drawing enthusiasts, sharpen those pencils and draw straight!

@Selkirk: Great job keeping the WSG afloat while I was busy pummelling ! I dig all of the Titan stuff you are drawing this week!

And here's a Attack on Titan character: Eren Jaeger, as far as I can determine he's the main character in the Anime episodes I've seen:

I was looking up Attack on Titan, and it seems it can be streamed (legally) for free: http://www.crunchyroll.com/attack-on-titan

              Cool work Selkirk and Sean.

I would have never expected that a CrossGen comicbook, especially their longest running title would bring such a forlorn week in WSG. As I was responsible for that request I try and put in a bigger effort going for a group shot - this is how far I got so far:

              Updates after tonight's housewarming drinks:-)
              Cheers,

I struggled a bit to find reference, and in fact Selkirk's Sephie was pretty high in Google Image Search, but here's a Sephie from Meridian. I suspect mine is a little too old looking, and she seemed to have some sort of magic power that lit up her hands?

@sean thanks bro ...yeah man i was having fun with these titans ...cool challenge to draw big and small chars :w00t:

@einar much thanks ...echoing a bit of what gullyfoyle said, it was something of a struggle finding reference for the meridian chars. i was even going to buy one on comixology ...but alas they don't have any crossgen stuff either.

but we must continue- onward ...
witchblade and sephie confront a titan

a citizen ..huzzah ......confronts a titan ...and she has discovered their greatest weakness-strong coffee . like most evil things the titans hate coffee(and in fact find it poisonous to the touch )-this citizen has just dumped a steaming pot of coffee on a passing titan(she was brewing coffee for the local militia).

and a sketch of espresso , a master sergeant in the doppio brigades that are heroically defending the city :w00t:-the titans are toast

Awesome round of sketches, Selkirk. Cool Sephie, Gullyfoyle, her age is just about right.

It just shows again that I rarely read comicbooks, so has no idea what trends are. My last big wave was some 10years ago, just when CrossGen was going. And I just imagined that with all those (mostly high quality) comicbooks behind them, you guys would at least recognise the name.

Anyway, here is the update: Sephie, Cotson, Hondell and Deren Beq:

(getting ever closer to a finished piece :-)

@ GullyFoyle: Thanks for the link, I might check it out ! And nice job on the Meridian drawing!
@ Einar: Thanks, and good job on the Meridian sketches! I like the finished drawing a lot!
@ Selkirk: More interesting drawings! Nice job!

Good job to everyone who participated in WSG 339 this last week. A combination of a major holiday, PUMMEL and topics made the week somewhat slow, but I liked all the drawing that was happening ! I'm hopeful that things will pick up a little in weeks to come! I hope to see everyone again in WSG #340 which I'll get posted up in a few minutes !
