  • Community Comic Panels?

I've got an Idea not sure how exactly if it'll fly.

    but for your consideration,
How about a collaborated free form web comic where each player just does one panel , based on the panel before.

maybe every player gets 2 or 3 days to do the panel. the story just goes where it goes.

maybe each player has to pick, at random, an unknown shape to work in.

maybe there's a a "script" that or at least one line that has to be included on panels on certain dates.
or there's a page of random lines and sounds that you choose an number hand have to use that on your panel.

maybe there's 2-3 characters that are the base. or maybe a world or genre is the base.

the idea here isn't solid but seems it could be interesting.

    maybe... whatchathink?

We did something almost exactly like that a few years ago called the Never-Ending Strip Jam.

Here's the thread if you want ideas on how it should be run. It kinda petered out but it could be fun to bring it back, or something similar.

This sounds like a fun idea, 1peace. If you want to put something like this together, organize it and run it within the community projects area that sounds good. I remember the Never Ending Strip Jam that Scott was talking about and there was also a couple of projects where people drew one page of a comic script, someone else inked it and someone else colored it.

More recently I had an activity in the weekly sketch group which was called: "Next Panel Challenge" where you are given a starting panel from an old comic or comic strip and then people can "continue" the story by drawing the next thing they think happened. It was sort of fun at the time, but sort of petered out after a few weeks?

In any case, I look forward to seeing what you come up with on this one !

          ok yeah Ok.

let me cook this a day or 2 Because I'm thinking it be a REAL webcomic. I'd post it up as such as like every week or so somewheres.
A stream of consciousness art series of sorts, with different phases that are more controlled at times maybe.

At this point I'm thinking seriously, so here's one ground rule.
Only Public domain or originally characters. No copyrighted stuff.
That way parts or all could actually be published.

... I'm thinking it'd be like PENCILJACK Press Presents or something.

maybe it's something we'd give back to the site as owner of the collected work or something... maybe...
I'm open to suggestions. but , somethings coalescing in the brain here.

          hmmm yeaah.

          this might be cool.

          those interested let me know

            Something like this? http://www.penciljack.com/forum/show...678-Anchorbird

We took a few of the guys from the Strip Jam and created a webcomic together. Each person took a page and the story had to continue from the last person's page. But we had editors, and everything had to be scripted beforehand and then approved before the participants could draw it.

Here's the actual webcomic that we created, but only the first 48 strips. The rest have been lost to the dark corners of the Internet. http://anchorbird.blogspot.com/

I really enjoyed that. The only problem was it would get a bit messed up with different people responding to the same panel. Which if it was slightly more structured could have been interesting to see an actual split and watch the story go in different directions.

              But anyway, I'm interested.

                Ha, Dejevu' all over again.
yeh sorta like that, but more like something in between your 1st 'never ending panel' thread and the webcomic here.

But yes that give me some ideas on set up too thanks Scott.

                are you interested?
