75th Anniversary Batman 1939 1st App. Drawing !

Good morning everyone. Seeing that this is Batman's 75th anniversary , I decided yesterday to do a picture to mark this occasion of him . I went for his very 1st appearance in Detective Comics May 1939 and I had a blast doing this. I hope you all like this. Now I'm throwing out a open challenge to all of you out there ! In honor of Batman's 75th , let's see your best rendition of the Darknight Detective . It can be from any era of his 75 year career . I know you are all capable of doing it, so what are you all waiting for ? Let's go !

I'm Issuing A Open Challenge To Everyone Here !


Seeing that this year is Batman's 75th anniversary , I'm putting out a open challenge to everyone out here to produce their best piece of the dark knight detective. It can be from any era of his amazing 75 year career and if there is any artist such as say , Neal Adams that is your favorite, don't be afraid to use him as a influence in your picture. I know you are all up to this. Here is my version of the classic cover to Batman No.1 from 1940.

I have a question: how come nobody's really jumping on this thread (I mean, besides the three of us)(with a nod to your comments, solanki, spidey976, Zathanial, and Pencilero)? Your latest piece, Delaney, makes me think we should propose a PJ Community-wide poster, each portion celebrating/illustrating a significant part of the BM history. Whadya think?

I think it isn't clear enough as to what is expected. I assume it is to draw Batman as he was 75 years ago with your own twist however it appears people have not necessarily done this.

In celebrating 75 years I suggest we recreate Detective Comics 27, panel by panel, in the same way Star Wars fans recreated Star Wars with http://www.starwarsuncut.com/

We can redraw Detective 27 panel for panel, ensuring the artist keeps the panel structure but with their own interpretation of that panel. Each panel is drawn as if working to golden age page size 12 1/2" x 18 1/2 to keep page consistency. This includes lettering and coloring. There are 55 panels that make up the first story and I am confident we can find 55 artist to fill those spaces. One panel per artist.

The cover could be a jam or we vote on a best entry. We then put it together as a .cbr ensuring that everyone is credited and send it on it's merry way.
