Haunted: Tales of the Revenant

Howdy, folks!

I'm trying out a format for a pulp-occult story featuring a character of mine called the Revenant. I wanted to do it in a newspaper, Flash-Gordan-esq style, and sofar I'm pleased with the results. I'm shooting for a new panel every week on my blog site http://hauntedrevenant.blogspot.com/

Here's the first few panels for your review and amusement!

Panel 1:

Panel 2:

Panel 3:

Also on my blog page, sculptor Eric Diaz is doing a fantastic sculpt of the character!

Take care,

Roguehill

(Fixed those images! Thanks Hades!)

This is a really great concept. Wish I'd thought of it. I know we're only three panels in, but it's working. Also, I just think that your style is great. Nice and clean (mangaish in a way, I think it's your line work, along with the toning). Just a question - is that commune in a hexagonal room? If so, nice, if not, I think your perspective might be off.

Good show, overall. I'm a fan.

Or Spectre or Green Lantern. Or the Spirit, even. But you know, I think this is a great variation on that. I think it'll work if he keeps it more supernatural that super HERO. Yes he's a masked vigilante, but so was the Shadow, or the Green Hornet. Keep it pulpy and I think you've got a winner.

You KNOW I love the Revenant, RH.

So excited to see 'em in scripted form. Can't wait to see more.

I really like he art, the scarf/mask is outstanding.

I'm not wild about the lettering, captions & balloons.

LOVE the art and story, but agree about the lettering. It seriously undermines would could be a solid, solid piece.

Look forward to seeing more.

Later,
Chip

Thanks guys!

I've been working on the character concept since..oh..around 2000, and he's definately a full-pulp character (the Spider is one of my favorite reads!), so no worries about super-heroics. The closest I'll get to that is probably something more Hellboy-ish.

Ah, Ghostrider. Yes, I know the skull head and the jacket invoke those kinds of similarities, but that's really where it stops. See, the really interesting thing to me is the interplay between the personalities of young Eddie Shaw and the relentless Charles Pallentine. This is pretty much their first outing together, so Eddie is pretty much playing along; but when when the "adventure" for him turns into "just help me kill these fools", it gets more complicated. I'm really curious to see how both characters grow through the whole thing.
I'm trying to post this on webcomicsnationhttp://www.webcomicsnation.com/genre.php?genre=9
to be updated every Monday. It's going to be a heck of a ride, and a serious learning experience.

Speaking of learning, I know that I'm no letterer and that I really need all the tips I can get. Are there any handy tutorials/tips out there?

Thanks,

Roguehill
