    Speed Drawing Group Week 14

I'll be taking speed drawing subject suggestions from now on. If you stumble across a cool photo that you think would make a good sdg image, by all means send it to me via PM here and I' may use it.

    Try to:
    • Keep the drawing fairly loose and fluid.
    • Block in quick shapes.
    • Maintain composition.
    • Add some values to help bring out the form.
    • Shoot for 10-15 minutes.
    • Most of all, have fun with it!

    Try not to:
    • Trace.
    • Overlay.
    • Use color picker if using paint program. You want to train your eye to identify colors.
    • Not get hung up on the details.

You may use any medium you wish. This is not limited to pencils. The goal to reinterpret the image as best you can within the time limit.

10 min. i liked the subject.

think i messed up with the background. theres layers there of building and landscape, shoulda went with lines instead of hatching to create shapes. also, dude face was sumb*tch to nail, that pig nose and mouth, guh.

kinda cheated tho, i used half an a4/letter.

Was going overboard with the dark outlines so stopped at 10 min.

Here's my entry. Think the face got a little wonky in the 14 or so minutes I spent on it. The action pose and extreme foreshortening in that pic is golden, though!

I hate that I can't give all you guys rep.

Good job, though. I see you guys are favoring the action/dynamic photos. I'll make a note of that next week. And remember to feel free and suggest photos for future SDGs.

That dude looks hardcore.lol I don't mind the girl in the landscape photo, either. Keep those landscapes coming.

I seem to miss some basic steps in the speed drawing thing. I always end up doodling the scene instead of catching its soul.. so to speak. I may need some advice.

I like DCs one the most. It actually looks like its drawn, sans reference. I have this problem too where if I'm looking at something while drawing it, I lose sense of space and depth (on paper). I'm better when I draw stuff from memory/imagination.
