I can see why guys are being critical. The linework is excellent (albeit lacking line weight variety) marred by composition that could be improved.

My comment would be the work is generally competent but not very exciting. And considering covers are supposed to be exciting, i would personally rethink the composition at the concept stage rather than trying to fix it in parts. This scene could be drawn from multiple angles and a good exercise is drawing thumbnails to see which angle is the best, rather than jumping straight into drawing a detailed piece.

Now with the rest of the context, it really doesn't make sense to not have her look at the shark guy. The cover looks completely disjointed because she is looking "offscreen" and not at the threat. And because it is a cover, you can't assume the reader has any previous knowledge (like she's blind or something). It will just look "wrong" and discourage people from being attracted to it.

She doesn't have pupils though, so how do you know she's not looking at the sharkguy?

Yes, I agree she might have excellent peripheral vision. :-)

However, her head is not oriented toward the threat. If a tiger sprang out of the bushes at you, you would be looking right at it, not out of the corner of your eye.

This is digital, right? Change the orientation of her head and let us have a look. In addition, I just noticed that she really isn't directing her "wobbly line" power at the beast, either.

Yeah, just because it's digital means I can automatically change the position of her head with a click of the mouse, without, you know, having to redraw any of it because the computer will do everything for me.

I say draw another shark guy in the foreground on the left getting BLOWN in half by the wobblies and then she has a reason not to look at the other guy.

Sorry, perhaps I have to explain how traditional drawing tools work. If this had been pencilled, inked, and colored on the same sheet of bristol, then you would have had to white out a large area of the drawing, re-pencil, re-ink, and re-color and hope that your new colors don't create a glaring mismatch with the older colors because they were applied over a whited out area.

In digital, you can simply REDRAW THE HEAD.

Almost done. It's really hard. Shoulda' planned better, I admit.
