    Sketch of Top Cows Velocity

Heres a sketch that I plan on cleaning up and fixing so I can print it on Bristol Board, add the final line-work and then send it to Kris Diaz. I ****ing slacked on him a year ago so anyways, I sketched this out during this past 4th of July weekend at the beach and had tons of fun drawing it. I have been full steam ahead on my children's book so drawing comic stuff for a change was fun. If you have advice to give, go for it. Its only going to make this pin-up stronger before I add the final details. Oh and its nice to post a drawing here after a long break.

I really like the angle you chose for this one. That, combine with the strong poses really gives a sense of movement to the piece.

In terms of critiques I'd say that the characters could use some more exciting expressions. Right now, it seems as though all of them have kind of lifeless faces. Other than that, the cropping at her knee and cutting off the hand like that is a little awkward.

I really like the detail you've got in the background. The little touches like potted plants on a window sill help sell the environment as lived-in.

Thanks Rob! The cropped knee and hand are due to this being a sketch in my sketchbook which is 8.5"x 11" but when I print this in faint Cyan on Bristol Board, I am going to be adding some more stuff the left side of the drawing. Maybe some Cyberforce characters and a car? Oh and I will change the expressions per your advice. Thanks!

Good to have you back FIG, and even better to see some more art from you.

Crit-wise, I'd say that the expressions are the big thing here. Three of the people on the page all have the same wide eyes - I think varying that a bit would help a ton. Beyond what's already been mentioned, I'd say that the heads are a bit big on two girls and the kid. I can't remember if that's a stylistic thing that you usually do, or maybe it's something that you've picked up from doing the kid's book.

Nice work on the pose though, and that background is well on it's way.

Sweet krikkit13, thanks for your critique. I am going to work on the expressions and I might have to make those bobbleheads smaller. It is a little something I picked up due to the childrens book. Oh and I went to your art blog and loved your stuff. So many talented artists here, I can't believe I was only hanging out in the Break Room for a long while.

Everyone has the exact same face. And that kid has a massive head on the right.

I don't know does she's? It'd be kind of hard considering she's on the street and stop signs aren't.

Yeah thanks for that crit, I'm reworking this drawing. How does everyone have the same exact face? Please be more specific.

They don't all have the same exact face, but Velocity and the boy are the most similar: highly rounded contour of the face, overly large eyes especially for her, and slightly open mouth.
I think you did a bit better with subtle differences in their noses.

In my defense, the faces are nothing alike aside from the fact that they have eyes, noses, and mouths. First off I drew them from different angles and second, the expressions may seem similar but I've already made changes to the boy. Looking at your advice though, I might have to redraw the boys head, make it smaller and change the shape as well. I'm not sure yet but thanks for your crit.
