He is an amazing character because even though he might be considered by society as the "most wrong" for his gestapo tactics and brutality... he is the most honest and forthright of the Watchmen and the most dedicated to doing what's right.
Rorschach is Jack Bauer... Rorschach is Vic Mackey... Rorschach is the true hero that the politically correct can't get behind because it would look bad on them. He fights evil on it's own level and he's just crazy enough to do it... but there is a nobility to him as well in that when the others want to cave to Ozymandias, because they see how the harm he has done can bring good and busting him might ruin that now... all Rorschach sees is the slaughter of innocents and despite what good can come of it, all Rorschach knows is it was wrong.
Rorschach never gives in to the wrong and in the end is willing to die rather than accept this new fate of the world as the others are prepared to do.
Add to all of this that Rorschach has solid rock balls and that he takes sh!t from NOBODY... that even being thrown in prison all alone with everyone he's ever busted, he is without fear and continues to believe he is the best and the baddest and proves it!
Rorschach is awesome and amazing! Rorschach is the best of the Watchmen!
