    Planet/World War Hulk

well i just finished world war hulk, and i have to say i am a little dissapointed. Planet Hulk was prety awesome, and i was really looking forward to the green mans homecoming, and for a while i was rather entertained. but the ending kinda ruined everything for me. i really did want him to beat the four of them to death, but, well i can understand why that didnt happen. but with what happend to miek(sp?), that down right pissed me off. also, little is said about what happens to his warbound friends. you see them all in chains and stuff, but they dont say what happens to them. is there another book that would clear that up? your thoughts...

I too enjoyed Planet Hulk but didn't like War World Hulk at all. I didn't really care or root for any of the characters involved. It had so much promise but so little pay-off.
Check out the new Vanguard web comic site.

man i loved WWH. I will write a full review after im done checking all the threads that have been updated since my last visit.

    k heer we goze:

I had actually no freaking idea what was going on in Hulk. In early 07 I had moved to Missouri with my gf, I had no money, so i wasnt buying comics. I picked up a wizard magazine and they were talking about this "world war Hulk" thing. Honestly I wasnt going to pay any attention to it, until I saw that one of my favorite artists was pencilling it....freaking John Romita Jr. So therefore that immediately made it a must-buy for me (I had no idea who this greg pak fool was).

I picked up the first issue and I was like WOW. this is what the Hulk is supposed to be about! forget the whole running from the government. Hulk is here and he is big and he is good and he is pissed! Pak does a great job of explaining all you need to know about world war hulk in 4 panels. I felt like I knew enough, anyway. Hulk smashes black bolt and iron man in the very first issue! Holy crap, I thought. this cant get any better.

Boy, was I wrong! This series had everything I could ever want from a comic....some of the most inventive sound effects ever (shrakkkadoom!)Hulk being mad beyond anything hes ever been before, rendering every single foe worthless and broken in his wake, General Ross being a tough as nails sumnabitch badass bastard (tackling Hulk jumping out of a helicopter! are you freaking kiddng me?!?!?), tons of arsenal just being unloaded upon Hulk, Dr Strange unleashing Zom(!!!), and it all culminates in probably the best fight scene of all time between the hulk and sentry. I also very much liked the bit with the people reading letter about the superheroes wronging them in issue 4. "I dont care. my husband is dead and i want that man to PAY" says a widow about blackbolt, whos inhumans killed her husband. Some people have disliked how much the series dragged on, but Hulk's motto was "never stop making them pay" and I really didnt want him to stop.

The only thing I didnt like about this event was the ending. Banner ending up a mile under the desert seemed kind of a weak punishment for him. I think the public would want something harsher for someone who DESTROYED MANHATTAN. also, i wish thor could have been the last fight instead of sentry, but thor wasnt around

anyways, a great beat-em-up comic which came at the right time for me. 9.5/10

If you really want the full WWH experience, you have to read all the side issues, not just the WWH story. It all builds suspense and back story, I loved it. Especially the Ghost Rider issues.

Actually, to my knowledge, there is a book called Warbound Aftersmash. I don't know how acurate the title is, but it was sold as a one-shot I believe.
