UGH. Am I The Only One SICK Of These Teenage Vampire Stories?!

TWILIGHT.

Ever since Buffy, pop culture seems to be targeting the vampire mythos towards 13-year-old girls, and turning it into SHIT as a result.

In Twilight, the vampires apparantly have to be under 17 to be admitted, and can WALK AROUND DURING THE DAYTIME (oh, but it's okay because it's really, really cloudy outside).

I used to think vampires were cool back when they were a minority of blood-sucking immortals who vowed to live in secret and feed off human cattle whenever they had the opportunity to do so. Now, we get this teenie-bopper variety who only feeds off livestock and are hung-up on who they're taking to the prom.

dude i totally agree. i hated it when the vampires were all dressing up in punk/goth stuff too, like blade and underworld and the like. give me the vampires that dress is suits and live in mansions any day over those pansies.

I've been tired of vampires for awhile. Every now and then a good vampire story pops up, but it's rare.

Incidentally, my mom has been trying to get me to read Twilight for a few months now. She's all about these books and won't stop talking my ear off about how great they are.

Oh, also, I'm looking forward to when the current zombiemania dies down in popular culture. Seems like everyone wants to do a zombie story now (and I'm guilty of it myself... see my signature). It's hard to find a bigger fan of zombie stories than myself, but even I'm getting tired of them. Enough zombies for awhile, guys.

And now I'm off to watch Dead Set.

I don't know that I will like this. But I don't have anything against people going outside the norm with their Vampire stories. There's only so many stories you can tell going with the traditional myth before it becomes played out.

It's amazing how many girls can't get enough of these books, considering the main character completeley throws away everything she has in life, her identity, and her own independance just to be with her boyfriend.

I like Tru Blood, It's more than just vampires, I really don't find them that fascinating anyway. Werewolves too, lame.
