Funny enough I don't want to see a Tony/Rhodes team-up. War Machine's armor was cool but the character never really had any sort of lasting appeal. He was just another Iron Man without the name and more guns.

Besides, we saw in Spidey 3 what team-ups do to a film franchise...

It's two hour movie, he doesn't need lasting appeal beyond the situation that requires him to help Tony in the WM suit.

...makes it an assload of money in spite of itself???

I honestly preferred Army liaison Rhodes. Okay, in the next movie he could fly in in extremis and save the day (almost did in the first movie) but to just hand him his own suit of armor? Christ, Stark wouldn't even do that for Cap.

As for the assload of cash, well, yeah, but at the price of sucking of course... I would hope Jon Favreau to be a bigger man than that.

Besides, Armor Dude tagteams with another armor dude to take down one hi-tech guy and his armored henchman... kinda gets redundant after a while. I just want a script with better twists and turns than "hero needs to bash and put away a villain that's the same as him but bigger". That's all Marvel did this year after all, which is part of the reason DK was the superior comic movie this season.

Punisher WZ will be a breath of fresh air coming from Marvel, that's for sure. A breath of salty, rusty-smelling, misty blood red air...

For 3 that's where the Mandarian comes in. Technology vs Magic! Writes itself really.

I think 2 should be Drunk Tony™ and War Machine, and then 3 could have the reveal of the Mandarin or AIM, and Extremis as Tony's ace in the hole that lets him win. That would be sweet.

I'm listening to Thursday's Howard Stern show right now, and Jon Favreau is doing a phone interview. He said they're working on the script for part two now and it involves War Machine.

Rhodes says "Next time" as he looks at the all gold armor. Its a forshadowing of War Machine - I'd have thought that was apparent. It's the natural progression of the story too. They covered a helluva lot of ground with the first movie, paying homage to a huge chunk of Iron Man history. It only makes sense that they include more of the Iron favorites. The stage is set for a HUGE armor brawl (Armor Wars anyone?).

Regarding Ultron - he's been my pick for the Avengers movie from the moment I heard they were planning one. He's so perfect - the tie-ins of multiple characters for the tech (Pym, Stark, even Cap for the adamantium angle) and the power to fight something indestructible (Thor, Hulk). It all works so damn well. Man, that'd be awesome.

They said that one of the antagonists in Avengers might be Hulk based on the final scene of the Incredible Hulk. It would depend whether Hulk has a sequel Before Avengers or not.

I like how they're keeping their options open.

Re: the allusion to War Machine in IM, yeah, it was plain to see and all the comic aficionados out there caught on it, but I'd rather see him fly in and save the day than having a full-fledged team-up.
My reasoning is that since Iron Man's bad guys aren't that well-known to the general populace, you need something really big to warrant two Iron Men to tackle it. I wonder how they're going to spin this.

I'm tellin' ya - the best way to handle it is to have Tony booze it up and let Rhodey take the helm in the standard IM armor and have him go nutso, like in the comics. The neural interface screws with him cuz its tuned to Tony's brain. So you have the IM vs IM, then that expands to real adversaries coming in. It would provide a good deal of character developement interspersed with some phenomenal action sequences. And at some point Pepper gets a proper shagging via DrunkTony.

    It'll work...and that's not the beer talking.
    Cheers, Alex
