    First Annual Space Arena Challenge

Progress chart and brackets will be posted here.

    First challenge unveiled:

    Polls ready tomorrow.

    Challenge 1 FAQs
    1. By open cockpit, do you mean open like a motorcycle, or open like a convertible, or just not enclosed?
    1. Either is fine just keep in mind you'll be using the vehicle for jousting in a later round.

    2. Do you mean outrunning winter as in there is snow/ice on the ground, or just that it should be fast?
    2. Both. Showing signs of winter could add to the intensity of the situation.

    3. Can it hover? Or should it be in contact with the ground?
    3. Hovering is okay. Orientation of vehicle/ground contact is pretty open.

    4. Should the vehicle have front and back views?
    4. Front and back views are not required. Front, side or 3/4 view is preferred.

    5. Should it be racing the others?
    5. You could show it racing, but not with the other vehicles since you don't know what they look like.

    6. Should I add weapons to my vehicle?
    6. You can, but it won't be necessary as none of the challenges would require them. They would be mostly for show at this point.

    7. Do you have any samples?
    7. Something like this:

    or
    http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1228/...135832.jpg?v=0
    but customized for your character.

    8. Do I need a background?
    8. Backgrounds are completely optional, but like always recommended. Focus on your vehicle.

Misc: For the voters! All voters must have at least 5 posts to their names. I feel this is a very reasonable condition. Polls will be made public to help protect against any shenanigans. Also, voters with a shared IP address will count as one vote except for certain circumstances.
In case of a drop out in challenges: Only 1 combatant will be eliminated from the following round.
In case of a drop out in the tournament: Combatants that were previously eliminated will have priority to come back in.
In case of a tie in the challenges: 3 special mod judges will decide who moves one based on quality and creativity of pieces.
In case of a tie in the tournament: There will be a 3 way match in the following round.

This is great. I'm all over it.

Question: Weapons allowed? Any limitations on that?

Um - clarification for the uninitiated please? Is this what it sounds like? Make up a character and then, what, draw him versus another PJer's character?

How powerful are these characters supposed to be? Like, Street Fighter or Thanos? These may be silly questions and I apologize in advance if they are.
    Cheers, Alex

Pretty much. Spidey hosted the Thunderbrawl last spring, and this should be similar. I'm curious about the power thing too - I'm guessing that power-wise the character shouldn't be out of place in, say, Star Wars or your Sci-Fi world of choice.

Here's an example of a particularly epic Thunderbrawl match:

If you want to see more, just search threads started by Spidey with "TB" in the title. There are a ton.

You best sign up hades - I'd love to see what you've got!
