Writing Contest 42 - Throwback: Monsters

Ok the long wait is over and it's time to launch the largest Writing Contest yet (or I hope it turns out that way )

After the great turn out for WC 41, it became apparent to me that 'to be continued' sagas of today's comics are stagnant and usually a letdown. The Western stories that showed up were complete and enjoyable with no obligation to continue on. That is what I want to set out to do with these anthologies, common themes with no to be continued obligations, exactly how comics started out. You picked up an issue with your favorite kind of stories in it and were entertained by multiple complete stories. Of course, some popular characters were brought back time and again but there was always a complete story without the obligation to carry on to the next issue, which could lead to a potentially huge letdown like a lot of arcs do these days.

This inspired the name Throwback for this comic sized anthology. The first theme we'll be doing is a favorite genre of mine: Monsters, but there is a catch. I don't want any Zombie stories, believe me I love those rotting marauders but it seems like there has been a relentless assault on them and I'm tired of seeing rehashed stories of the undead. I want to see new original Monster stories and that's where all of you come in.

The Rules are a bit different this time around:

*Nothing sexual in nature (romantic, love scene, is ok, but nothing graphic)

    *Nothing Political

    *No Zombie Stories

    *4 Page Script

*The winning 5 scripts will be chosen to be in the first Throwback anthology.

*If you have an art team or are an artist yourself you will count as one team if your script is chosen for the anthology.

*If you don't work with an art team or are not an artist and your script wins, then you'll choose 1 page from your script for artists to draw in a Sequential contest.

*There is a month deadline this time around to give all of you plenty of time to produce the best work possible.

*The winners of the contest will receive a copy of the anthology when everything is finished.

Post any questions you may have

Good luck to all of you and I hope to see everyone's best.

    Deadline:
    Friday, September 12th

want to see new original Monster stories
As in the monster has to be original, or the story has to be original?

I'd really like to see new monsters but if you want to do a traditional monster that is fine. If you do go the preexisting route then you'll really need to step it up, I want to see a lot of originality in the stories.

    Awesome theme! I'm game.

One question: Will the winners be decided by vote or are you (ZombieKilla) selecting the winners, since it's your anthology?

Even though it is my anthology, the winners will be decided by vote. That way everyone has a say in what they want to see in the book. Although, I'll have votes too so I can support what stories I like best
