    Adobe illustrator/photoshop alt.

I'm new here and I'm sure this has been answered dozens of times but does anyone know any good Illustrator/Photoshop that are free or cheap? I'm on a budget and I don't know which is good. Thanks in advance.

Gimp and Inkscape are free alternatives to Photoshop and Illustrator repectively. Not used them myself, but people seem to get by with them.

Gimp is fun and a good photoshop alternative although you may find yourself doing in 3 or 4 steps something you could do with a specific tool in photoshop.

Also, if you color for print gimp does not have CMYK (the color separation used for printing presses) natively so you have to find a plug-in. If you're doing black and white only, no big deal.

Manga Studio is focused towards B&W, but for an ink simulator and comics-focused platform it's pretty fantastic. It ranges between $99 and $299 depending on the version, and if you're familiar with Photoshop the layout and tools are pretty much identical. It's also fully compatible with PS, both importing and exporting PSD files.
