    Inking Castle (splash page)

    Well here castle I drew as a base for my splash page for

    It's a nice castle but the bricks are used wrong. Putting them close together on one side would have given the sense of depth and a light source. Then use less bricks on the side where the light is hitting. You can probably accomplish this with just color but the castle would still have the flimsy feel to it.

    Yeah, while I commend you on your spectacular use of detail, all of those little bricks are really throwing this off. You really only have two options when doing bricks. You either commit and do each and every single brick, or you can throw in a few hints of bricks, very few, to get the point across that it's bricks. There are just way too many hints here, and they're so varied and everywhere that it's really all you see. It's like the castle has a rash and broke out in hives. Very distracting.

    I like it a lot, but I agree about a bricks grouping could set your light source better adding more deep to the composition

    This is just a sample...i don't have a better one, but I think can it give you my point

    great rocky cliffs though!!

    Not only is it the amount of bricks, but they are so regularly spaced out with each other.
