    Books Book search help!

Hey,has anyone seen a collection of oldtime ads like this one where artists would draw the fashions of the 40,50's?

I'm sure there has to be a book somewhere that collects this kind of stuff.

You mean like this, this, and this?

I doubt they're all illustrated though.

Helpful? I don't goddamn know. I didn't really put a lot of effort into this. I'm gonna go put my head in an oven now.

These books exist. I can vouch for that, although I'm not certain where exactly you'd find them. When our city had a B. Dalton's I used to go in and look at the fashion books from the 1930's.

I'd suggest going to your library. There are a lot of books on cultural fashions in the Social Sciences and Fine Arts sections of the local library.

From there you can nail things down and get on the right path.

Try searching the catalogue for "costume" or "costuming". These books seem to be marketed more toward Hollywood sorts for period flicks.
