I didn't see this posted up and I think almost everyone would have seen it on the news by now.

A large fire broke out this morning on the Universal Studios lots.

I still find it amazing when I hear some of the sets from certain movies still exist so many years after their original use. Ashes to ashes

And they rebuild the ones that are destroyed by fires (I think there's been 7 now?).

ah man, the back to the future clock & 40,000 plus reels where destroyed.

Universal has bad luck with those fires.

There's apparently backup copies of the destroyed reels, so at least they're not lost forever.

Celluloid is disgustingly flammable.

Man how many friggin propane tanks did they have in that area anyways... you can hear the booms as each one explodes on video.
